I watched this at the cinema, its one of the few films I've walked out of before the film was finished.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not all its made out to be..., 19 Jan. 2015
I bought the Amazon Fire phone because I was looking both for a new phone and a replacement for my Kindle.

I wish I'd been a bit more patient and looked a bit more closely at what else was on the market at the time. In comparison to phones like the HTC One M8, iPhone 6 and LG G3, the Fire phone doesn't really match up. This in itself isn't necessarily a problem, I'm not one of those people who is always after the 'newest', 'best' 'most powerful' phone, but it has been priced as though it is.

Amazon OS is based on Android, but its not Android its Amazon Fire, Fire OS looks and feels nothing like Android.

For many things you'd want to do or access, you'll have to get used to using gestures. For example, instead of a back button, you have to swipe up on the display from the bottom near the home button. Even after a several months I still dont find gestures intuitive, it's frustrating and confusing.

The settings page appears with a flick of the phone - clever heh, except that it will typically dissapear as your hand naturally flicks back slightly, it also has the habit of appearing as you walk along.

Quite a few people have already complained about how Amazon App store doesn't really cater for the UK market. Its possible to install apps without using the App store, but its not a simple one-click exercise.

So in summary, hardware reasonable (especially the camera) but still expensive for its specs, awkward to use, lacking in apps and held back by its operating system.

4.0 out of 5 stars Waiting to see another story set in the same universe, 29 May 2014

I really enjoyed High Ground, buying it on the recommendation of a friend, I wasn't disappointed. High Ground certainly does not come across as a début novel, its a well written thriller which moves along at a cracking pace. Hopefully Mr Turner will write another story set in the same universe as I for one was left wanting to find out more.

Davide Mana's Tyrannosaurus Tex is a lovely short tale of a alternate wierd west, with events told from the point of view of a young onlooker.

This PS2 Female to USB-A Male Keyboard Adaptor Its perfectly adequate for the job. If I had any misgivings about it its that the weight of the adapter means it has a tendency to slip out of some USB ports

4.0 out of 5 stars Evocative urban magic, 11 April 2013

I like urban magic as a genre, and Kate Griffin's writing in particular. others have described her prose as a little overwritten, but I think this pays off in the way she draws you into the place London is as much the hero here as Matthew Swift.

Dead Centre: (Nick Stone Book 14)
Price: £4.97

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid, 12 Mar. 2013

A good read but probably the weakest of Andy McNab's Nick Stone novels so far. This is not to say it is a bad book simply that its not quite as full on as say Remote Control or his earlier Nick Stone books.
