3.0 out of 5 stars All that they have done to conform., 31 Mar 2006
From fizzy pop to stagnate juice
I am a huge U2 fan, but I don't recognize my band on this record. It's flat and totally lacking any of the fizz of U2's previous albums. Achtung baby, Zooropa, and Pop are mind-blowing records and set the standard for others to follow. All That You Can't Leave Behind is a very self-conscious album, which was born out of the band's worries over possible disproval from the mainstream music press, such as the once great NME and U2's lack of musically confidence - in other words, selling it to the masses.
All That You Can't Leave Behind is a well-crafted album. It's not awful, very much the opposite it's very beautiful. However, I just know that U2 could've knocked out even bad than bad mofo of a record. They just wanted to play it safe.
If you're looking for a great gift for you're Mum, this is the one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Remix of Gulls., 4 Mar 2006
This review is from: I Ran : The Best Of (Audio CD)
As a completion album, it's not bad. The remixes are decent and worth taking a listen to. However, if you are after a Seagulls best of, don't get this one first. You would be better off picking one with a wider cross section of the Flock's original work.
However, I have given this album 4 stars, because the Seagulls are awesome. Furthermore, the original eight tracks that are on the album are classics; and remixes are well crafted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zoomofophic! (Warning, this record is not for wimps!), 14 Feb 2006
This review is from: Pop (Audio CD)
The title Pop suits this album. The moment you pop it on, it blasts out of your speakers. Pop is a real mofo of a record. This is not an album for little children; this is an album for grown ups. If you cannot handle the fusion of hardcore guitar, banging hip-hop beats and non-stop electro energy, then I am afraid Pop isn’t for you. May I suggest Radiohead or if they’re too hardcore for you, Cold Play.
This is U2’s most experiential record. Since Pop, U2’s work has been good, but not on the cutting edge as it was in the 90’s. Pop is the last in U2’s cyber punk collection. The two other albums that form the cyber punk trilogy are Achtung Baby and Zooropa.
Buy it, but only if you can handle it.
Furthermore, I’m the second guy in Cardiff to own this record. I could have been the first, but I let someone go front of me. I’m nice like that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Electro hangs out with Rock, and gets to know the Blues, 14 Feb 2006
Songs for Faith and Devotion is perhaps Mode’s most experimental piece to date, with regard to how different it is to their work before and after it. This is a beautifully crafted album and well worth owning. Its fusion of dark lyrics, haunting guitar rafts and synth rock; creates an album that stands comfortably shoulder to shoulder with its electro rock contemporary, U2’s Achtung Baby. However, both albums were produced by Flood, which may contribute to why both are classics.
Songs for Faith and Devotion is a 90’s classic and a must buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A monster of an album!, 13 Feb 2006
This review is from: Paper Monsters (Audio CD)
A must buy! Paper Monsters is perhaps one of the best rock electro albums around. If you are Mode fan, then this album should be a staple in your music collection - you will not be disappointed. Gahan has knocked a first-class album. Paper Monsters is skilfully crafted and extremely enjoyable listen to. I look forward to the follow up.

Furthermore, don’t enjoy the silence, pop this album on instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars A-ha! It’s A-ha again., 13 Jan 2006
This review is from: Analogue [CD + DVD] (Audio CD)
A-ha has yet again produced another outstanding piece. Since the release of there come back album ‘Minor Earth - Major Sky in 2000, the band has steadily produced mature and intelligent music. Analogue, is there best album to date. A-ha show no signs that there about to fade away, very much the opposite. The lyrics of Analogue are deep and soul searching. However, when the lyrics are spliced with the hunting, yet calming melodies, they both come together to produce an album that is simply beautiful.
If you’re into U2’s work, then it will be in you’re interest to pick up this album. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
