4.0 out of 5 stars Hassle saver..., 18 Jun. 2004
This review is from: Hama 5 Way Scart Block (Accessory)
OK, I'm sure most people today have a few TV devices - VCRs, DVD players, games consoles, and digital TV boxes - that connect to the TV using SCART. I used to have to change the cables over whenever I wanted to use a different device, like when I wanted to play on the PS2 after watching a video, which got quite annoying after a while. Now I've got one of these, though, I simply don't have to bother.

4.0 out of 5 stars A must for enthusiasts, 18 Jun. 2004
Though not necessary for most (hence the 4 rather than 5 stars), if you want the best quality 5.1 DVD sound from your PS2, you'll be needing one of these to plug into your sound system. Simply plug one end into the back of the console, the other into your amp, and you're done. Remembering to check on the PS2 setup menu that "digital out" is on, of course ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet, 18 Jun. 2004
I got one of these little things before I had a PS2 (which includes a similar part) so that I could connect a camcorder or my PC to my TV, since we were lacking the sockets (red, white, yellow) that I needed. This changes the three-pin system into a SCART connection, so you can use it on TV equipment (VCRs. etc)
With this, I bought one of the most useful and practical gizmo's I own.
It also works as a replacement for the PS2 part, which I discovered when the original was damaged.

4.0 out of 5 stars Attention Designers! It's this one you want! Sell Your Home!, 9 Nov. 2003
Adobe is known as one of the best developers of graphic design software, and for a good reason.
These programs are very good at what they do, but the £1,084.99 is just to high for the casual home user. It's probably too high for some designers, but this is the one set that you'll need for quite a while.
Web designers should also take note that this pack, coupled with Macromedia Studio MX, create the most functional web kit you can find.
They've got 'all bases covered', to coin a phrase, with this one. It's highly functional, and easy to pick up, but a course or lengthly study of the included tutorials may be in order if you wish to usw

2.0 out of 5 stars Frankly not worth the discount, 9 Nov. 2003
The only reason this doesn't have one star is that the program itself is very good, but this (although it would seem a major point) pales in comparisson to the inconvenience of having to send off an application and waiting forever to get the damned thing. It is also important to remember that Norton require a 'subscription fee' to be paid every year after the first.
Forget this, and go for the proffesional edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, 9 Nov. 2003
This review is from: The Collection (Audio CD)
Put simply, if you're looking for a better box set of Miller than this, you might end up straining your eyes.
Over three and a half hours of terrific music for everyone. I haven't yet found anyone opposed to listening to this. There is little more to say than this collection is truely superb, and 9 quid for four CDs of this calibre is fantastic.
This is the part when you click on the buttons in the upper right, the ones with 'buy' written on them...

4.0 out of 5 stars A must for Reeves fans..., 9 Nov. 2003
....and those who aren't big fans, too.
Three great films for a great price, including one of the least appreciated of Mr Reeves' repetoire, and in my mind one of the better, Johnny Mnemonic.
Mnemonic was one of the first to spawn the style of 'cyberpunk', and the world is better of for it.
The others are great action films, with good performances all round. If you are a fan and dont have the DVDs, as I did not, then this will be a splendid and affordable addition to your collection.
If you're not a Reeves 'fan' and fancy a cheap set a good films to while away your hours, this would be just what you're looking for.

4.0 out of 5 stars More of the same with a little bit extra, 4 Jun. 2003
Since Ensemble Studios' Age of Empires, years ago, 2D isometric RTS games haven't changed much. There've been advances in graphics and AI, but all 2D RTS have felt pretty much the same until recently (with Age of Mythology).
Rise of Nations initially has this feel of familiarity, but then it reveals itself to be much more than its predecessors. The resource gathering system is very well executed, with a removal of the 'micromanagement' that so many people find annoying - resources do not deplete. RoN also introduces the concept of national borders as being very important to tactical planning in the game.
The game itself is graphically pleasant, though don't expect to be overwhelmed by beauty. That said, it runs well, and there are a number of other features to make this one of the best presented 2D RTS games ever. Each of the 18 nations has unique units and a characteristics, which gives a good variaty of options for play styles. The 'conquer the world' campaign also gives the game depth and gives the player control over their own mission structure.
For new RTS gamers, this game would be a good introduction to the genre. For experienced RTS gamers, this game offers variaty, a new approach, and a solid challenge.
Overall, this game is a good buy, as it can be played for hours and hours, with differing battles and good presentation. A good game. Good.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great film with poor DVD features is still a great film..., 20 April 2003
“Power to the people who punish bad cinema!” – The maxim of this film.
We follow the exploits of a troupe of underground filmmakers, led by their director, Cecil B Demented, played by Stephen Dorff, in a whirlwind of action that is ‘real cinema’. Dissatisfied with Hollywood’s offerings to the world of cinematic entertainment, the ensemble seek to create a film with the whole city potential cast members.
The frenzied guerrilla filming tactics of the group offer a splendid accompaniment to the message given by the group to us through their abducted Hollywood star Honey Whitlock, played by Melanie Griffith.
Dorff gives a fantastic performance, and the film has a fantastic end sequence which leaves the viewer with a feeling quite akin to that left by other great modern movies, such as eXiStEnZ the “ah...oh...” feeling that the plot comes to a point of delivering a strong message, and now you get it…
A great film which every true connoisseur of modern film should own, ignore the interviews and such features on the DVD, and watch this movie!
