Basic - perfect., 30 April 2011
Having owned an Iphone 3GS and an Android smart phone, I recently decided that the excessive features, generally poor battery life and the high value of these phones meant I'd prefer to own something a little more basic.
This phone has an attractive and relatively sharp display, sporting a traditional Nokia OS. There is very little in the way of bells and whistles with the software - which suits me fine. If you've owned a classic Nokia before, then it's a pretty standard set-up.
The battery life is a nice plus for me. I can get around 7-8 days on one charge with the odd phone call and a few messages sent and received each day. This is a nice feature after having to charge previous phones daily.
The build quality is lovely. No creaking, feels robust. There is rubberised edging all around the phone and mechanical areas (buttons, covers etc) which makes it splash proof. There are plenty of Youtube videos around highlighting this phones' ability to remain operational when fully submerged in liquid. The keypad is responsive and has well sized buttons.
Call quality is very good and I've had no issues with reception. What more is there to say about the phones' main feature?
It has a little 2MP camera on the back with flash that, whilst won't give you the best holiday snaps in the world, is fine for the odd bit of day to day shooting.
I have nothing more to say about this phone other than I'm very happy with it. I love not having the phantom temptation on offer by more advanced handsets, which almost demand that you constantly play around with their glossy touch screens. It means this little thing just stays in my pocket until it is actually needed. When it is needed it does its job well.
