Not what I expected, 20 Sep 2011
I have to say this is one of the most mind-numbingly boring books I have ever read.I had read the author's book "Fat to Fit" earlier this year and was very impressed with a lot of the advice given.I decided to purchase "Dieting Makes You Fat" on the strength of that book. Big mistake. Whereas "Fat to Fit" is readable and filled with interesting facts "Dieting Makes You Fat" is overblown,long winded and in places totally incomprehensible.I don't know what audience he is aiming for but it certainly isn't the ordinary man in the street.One example; when in London he frequents Nani's of Wigmore Street for lunch and in the evenings he often goes to a restaurant in the" world food" chain Giraffe.
Save your money on this book, buy "Fat to Fit". Better still,do the following;1)Walk for 40 minutes 5 days a week,2)Eat less bread, 3)Look at food labels carefully and avoid foods with high sugar, fat or salt content,3)Cut right down on sweets,pastries and takeaway foods,4)Cut down on alcohol,5)DON'T BUY ANY DIETING BOOKS.
