1.0 out of 5 stars Horrendous Junk, 29 May 2008
Avoid this like the black plague it is completely useless because ..

1. Mionet (the bundled software, that you are advised to use): both insecure and badly coded, do you really want to send credentials that allow anywhere access to your data across the net with limp security? installing the software is a pain unistalling it full requires registry hacking oh and now they have your email address so expect regular pleas to buy the software.

2. Setup : the firmware on the box does not seem to like any corporate router or firewall until it is updated which of course you cannot do until you get it running. When it is running mounting it as a drive is a massive pain as mionet trys to take over at every turn.

3. Speed : at one point we clocked 15 minutes to move 20 mb at which point it was returned never to be used again.

4.Sound : I play cricket near an international runway a 737 from 100 meters is only marginally quieter.

Do not buy this unless you want an unusual lamp that has soothing jet aircraft noise.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great in places, irritating in others, 26 Sept. 2007
This review is from: Dead Head Fred (PSP) (Video Game)
As I live in Gibraltar I have a copy of the game before its release date and have been playing it for the past week or so and I have to say that for the most part it is a great game. It has two big failings the first is the fighting mechanism that is repetative and random (what you press and what you get seem to change every time) and second whenever the shrunken head is in play you know that it is annoying jump from platform to platform getting the timing right which is very annoying.
That aside it is very fun the highlights are the storyline which seems to be a cross between toxic avenger and raymond chandler which is played out well through the cut scenes excellently voice acted including fred being played by John C Mckinley (scrubs), good minigames including pool, fishing and cockfighting leagues, and fiendish little puzzles. One of the best things about this game is that unlike a lot of the games on PSP it is aimed at adults which means it is hard, very hard in places. The graphics as well are among the best that I have seen for the psp so far.
On the whole I am glad I bought it... well for about 80% of the time.

It is a solid plastic figurine with fairly good detail that has survived over six months in my house with a 10 year old. At £8 a bargain.

4.0 out of 5 stars Shakespeare spouting daleks with clocks and mirrors, 3 Aug. 2006
Big finish has the ability to wander into some very strange areas which often isn't a bad thing the lack of visual means that there is the ability to go further with a plot and for some reason it gives the daleks more menace. The general plot is difficult to explain in the semi near future the uk is ruled by an originally benevolent dictator who is slowly becoming more brutal against a band of rebels who are very unhappy because people are forgetting shakespeare enter the doctor. who belives there is a fissure in time and when he finds out there is a primitive time travel device using mirrors and clocks he believes that this could be the cause of it all until he sees a few daleks skulking around wanting to protect shakespeare.

As odd as it sounds it does all make a twisted sense and as usual McGann pulls it off with a aplomb, one of his strongest assets is that he takes it seriously and delivers it all with a strange caring tone, unfortunately as usual Charley is superflous but the rest of the characters interact well, the daleks are at there best when they are being devious which they are here. It all kind of works when it could have been crashingly painful and ends up being very entertaining.
