5.0 out of 5 stars a must for all Sharpe fans, 20 Mar 2004
aslong as you like Sharpe you'll like this.As usual the storyline is a mix of the good(sharpe) versus the evil french(in this case Ducos is back). Although those who havent seen sharpe may enjoy it too, as it has a good storyline throughout. It is as excellent as usual, with its awe inspiring scenes of rural countryside, to its contrast of the well choreographed bloody war scenes. Its certainly a must for all sharpe fans!

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly child friendly, 20 Mar 2004
Surprisingly child friendly for a Moll Flanders adaption. This is a really good film with a fantastic and harrowing tale. A good adaptation of the original, with a lovable main character, played by robin wright. Morgan Freeman also played his role excellently, with the same to be said for john lynch in his role as the artist. I thoroughly enjoyed this film, it's a must watch for anyone whether literary or not. For all those who enjoy a bit of drama.

5.0 out of 5 stars delightfully odd, 20 Mar 2004
I adore this film. its probably one of the most underated films. it has quite a camp, and almost 'carry-on' feel, but really is the funniest, yet also quite scariest films i've ever seen. its eerie from the personalised metro golden mayer start to the sled ride home. The music is fantastic and very inkeeping with the film itself. jack macgowran is excellent as the scatterbrained professor, whilst both roman polanski and sharon tate are marvellous in their parts as assitant and redheaded beauty aka. the next vampire victim. A cult film with a delightfully odd feel to it throughout. However comic it may seem, form the setting alone its still not one to watch with the lights out.

5.0 out of 5 stars a classic, 20 Mar 2004
Although it can be quite hard to get into, the mabinogion is certainly a classic piece of literature, with a number of fantastic stories. It's suitable from any age, and is a clear insight into welsh, celtic mythology. Each story is beautifully written, with some really unusual storylines. Its an important piece of welsh literature, showing a number of wales' great legends and myths, and is a must read for all, from child to adult. It's simply enchanting.

4.0 out of 5 stars informative and entertaining, 12 Mar 2004
The book was well written, with an straight forward, and understandable use of lexis and historical story telling. suitable for a wide range of audience. It was beautifully written.
Whilst it was non fiction, it had an entertaining way of looking at the lives of two remarkable women in history. it was most certainly a fresh way of looking at a history book, without a moment of 'stuffyness' or'boring uninteresting facts'.
The images in the book, were helpful to add actual imagery to the story that unfolds, although dunns own way of explaining the story was more than adequate.
The only problem I had was that I felt dunn has portrayed mary to be a little more intelligent than she actually was. Overall it is most certainly an excellent book, with a fascinating insight into this section of history, let alone this powerful and dramatic story. Jane dunn looks at the lives of elizabeth and mary in a very refreshing and well structured manner, which made the book however long, a pleasure to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars a really excellent film, 6 Mar 2004
The film was consistant in its excellent acting, with a very interesting and poigiant story line, which although quite a familiar idea of bad brother versus good brother, was still a pleasure to watch.
As can be seen by the certificate it is obviously not a family film and may not appeal to all. However, the superb acting, dramatic and at times rather beautiful storyline, certainly compels the audience to watch on. The film seems to have been directed with sensitivity, and good understanding of the issues raised concerning the plot line. In summary, it starts well has a good plot line throughout with an equally good ending. I urge you to watch on.
