As a mid -80's user they suit my life style and at my age fashion is not important, but they are rather bulky. They do on the other hand provide a comfortable house wear alternative to outdoor shoes and can be ew3asily slipped into

It is a practical solution to a number of possible cat flap situations and types of door. In my case it had to be an opening in a wall

5.0 out of 5 stars A practical approach to life, 24 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Mark Rhodes uses an uncomplicated style to present some practical approaches to life that my own experience confirms as sound. He is very good on Goal setting and uses a range of visualization techniques elsewhere. Like all books in the 'development' oeuvre all authors have their preferred emphases because they develop experientially, and for some they might prefer a different approach. My advice would be read them all and then choose your preferred position and definitely include Mark Rhodes in the list. There is a long road ahead of him but he is well on they way.

3.0 out of 5 stars Earth Mother in action, 13 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Ninepins (Kindle Edition)
I should not be reviewing this book because many years ago we were crew on a yacht and I bought it out of interest in her writing style. If you are seeking an insight into the 'emotional realities' of motherhood I would think this would be apt.

4.0 out of 5 stars Correspondence column harvest, 13 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An amusing insight into both the letter editor's and the writer's view of life. An ideal book to while away a train journey, or when waiting for some important event. It would benefit from the editor's observations associated with a given choice, however, the observation might be considered libelous, and there is sufficient not to wish for more.

4.0 out of 5 stars A novices view, 20 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As a novice to the subject I feel less than qualified to review the recipes but as an introduction to the subject I found it enormously helpful. My original thoughts about the distinction between 'juice' and 'smoothies' were revised and where I shied away from the high price of a 'juicer' (£99.00+) the Argos Cookware juicer at £24 became interesting and even more to my surprise I found 5 carrots made the best "Bloody Mary" with a shake of Worcester sauce that I have tasted. The only fly in the ointment at the moment (until I can appraise the 'meta-data') is an Australian study showing a connection between liver damage and fructose but frankly I suspect the findings, as we were originally hunter gatherers and presumably have an appropriately designed metabolism to digest fructose.
If you are interested in widening your diet this should be a great help

5.0 out of 5 stars If you wonder about why you are here Chapter 5 will explain it, 18 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a small (and short) book that is worth reading two or three times, particularly chapter 5. One does have to 'interpret' Aurobindo's expressions which contain much of the language that would have been used in his ashram. It is necessary to 'get inside' his thoughts expressed in this way and can be tedious if one is not motivated to do so, but the effort is well worthwhile for those with an open mind not hampered by religion or scientism. This book defines the 'Superman' role that he believes is mankind's destiny.

4.0 out of 5 stars A sobering revelation of requited love, 18 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Karen MacQuestion has a delightful vocabulary of modern idiom and uses it cleverly as the plot develops to disclose the development of her characters. The book moves at an easy pace with amusing twists and should be rated as a good read

4.0 out of 5 stars A background to the Life Divine, 18 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Mind of Light (Paperback)
If you have read Aurobindo's brilliant "The Life Divine" and have an interest in his background and the conduct of his ashram you will find it in this book. It does not add to the penetrating observations of his earlier work but fills out the picture of the man and gives an insight into the origins of his work, which helps to expand one's understanding. It is a sobering thought that a mind of such brilliance can remain hidden and unrecognised in the intellectual milieu of today, ehu fugacis.

3.0 out of 5 stars One of the old school, 18 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
There is a charm about Seth's pronouncements, but he is a bit of a 'blowhard. He scatters truisms around as though they were pearls of wisdom and declares he will reveal the truth about an aspect of consciousness, but never quite gets round to it. Frankly I believe what he purports is plagiarized because he appears to lack the intellectual grasp of the subject he declares he will reveal, but having said that the constant anticipation of some revealing nugget of the truth being disclosed keeps one reading and his grasp of multi-dimensional reality is not without merit. What I find most helpful about Seth is that he accidentally discloses information whose value I suspect he is not aware of , such as the effect of being timeless, but that the extant past can be addressed as a separate reality, also that one can create coherent realities in a separate space (space therefore being a dimension in its own right. All this is of interest if one were occupying his dimension but of little value in managing this local linear game. Seth has a rightful place on my book shelves for his oblique references but I do wish he had had some physics schooling and I give him 10/10 for being a charming old duffer.
As a separate matter April's channeling is sans pareil and greatly to be admired.
