this is an album of music as it was meant to be. As the title suggests music not overdubbed to take the heart out of a song, and with songs that carry emotion or a story. Mr Edwards puts the Western back into Country and Western, Western music is a genre of American folk much overlooked, but I'm glad to say there are artists such as Don Edwards who are reviving it and keeping it alive. Just like the Western film just as you think you've seen the last of the cowboy hero some one somewhere in Hollywood produces a new film. For country fans listen to some of Don Edwards work to find out the origins of country music and how British and Irish folk influenced many of the cowboy songs when people of these countries first populated North America.

Take these booklets as they are a record of when the cowboy lead the entertainment field. Now these reissues have started print please continue with tv related westerns top of the list should be Dell Comics Maverick and Have Gun Will Travel, two of the many great western series that I watched as a kid and loved. I play in a duo who play western songs and swing and love all aspects of western lore. Keep em comin' ol' pard',

when cowboy as a genre was king it is no surprise the Duke had his own comic. Don't expect high quality printing remember these were printed when the cowboy image dominated films tv and music, however as a real collectors piece they really are essential.

at last a glimpse of when the cowboy was king. during my childhood the western genre was everywhere on tv films books and certainly until the early 1960's every kid played at being Jesse James or Wyatt Earp in the school playground. It was a time when cowboys got shot but there was never a sign of blood and you knew the good guy always won. these comics reflect this time wonderfully, if like myself you like collecting western items this has to be on your wanted dead or alive list.

This is simply the best new country set i've heard in a long ,long time. The vocal harmonies are haunting and accompanied by sparce yet fluid arrangements that hypnotise and draw you in. As a debut album they may have just given themselves a massive task to better it with a follow up album, that said I hope they are prolific composers and that a second album won't be long. I for one will buy it. Anyone who has Duhks, Nickel Creek or Crooked Still albums must add this to their collections.
