Catchy, uplifting, full of great tunes, what isn't there to like?! Even after the first listen you know that this is an album that you will listen to an awful lot. Highly recommended. Having come to Kelley Stoltz late and working backwards through his albums I have to say the songwriting on this album feels like a step up. Don't get me wrong all of his albums are enjoyable but with tracks like "Star Cluster" and "Pyramid of Time" on this one it makes it a fantastic listening experience. I just cannot understand why I never heard of him before!!!

I have read this and The Last Panther, both similar in style and both I think need to be taken with a pinch of salt. It seems very hard to corroborate the facts and it's notable how few names are used of places or people. It is awful doubtful how Faust could have physically seen all these things from his tank...there's a lot of retrofit memory going on here or just plain fiction. Perhaps the bare bones are true but I am yet to see any historical basis for either of his works....and it does read like a film script sometimes

3.0 out of 5 stars Feels more MOR, 18 July 2015

Well Tame Impala have jettisoned the guitar in favour of the synth on this release. The album overall feels like it never gets into top gear or has the highs and lows of their earlier releases, it feels ever so slightly soulless. I can't say that I dislike it but I think I will listen to their other releases a whole lot more

Bursting and overflowing with energy and catchy tunes. I loved Deceptacon when I first heard it and I think a lot of the tracks on this album are right up there with it. Highly recommended especially as it seems this album has generally been sadly overlooked.

Most definitely the best thing I have heard in ages. There's a catchiness to the tunes and the production is sympathetic to the music. I guess you can hear a lot of influences within the album but it's definitely one that once you've heard it you'll want to put it straight back on again.

3.0 out of 5 stars A disappoining follow up, 11 Sept. 2014
This review is from: Aorta (US Import) (Audio CD)
Having enjoyed the first Aorta album for many years I finally got round to buying their second. Unfortunately compared to their first this is a far more mundane and middle of the road affair. The psych touches and energy of the first album have been replaced by standard and fairly lightweight rock. I'd say the first album is essential listening for any fan of late 60s music but you can live without the follow up......

3.0 out of 5 stars Cheap clips...., 3 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Overall this is a nicely designed laptop bag but it's completely let down by the cheap and fragile plastic clips at the front. I purchased one of these just over 1 year ago and after a while the clips started to come open of their own accord. Now in the last week one clip has broken basically rendering the bag pretty much unusable. The clips are stitched in so not easy to replace. Wouldn't purchase another one due to its reliance on these clips.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been definitive and maybe a bit more objective, 25 April 2014
I guess if you accept that Shane Meadows undertook this documentary as more of a fan rather than a film maker then the end result is ok. However, I found it to be quite disappointing in its content. The reunion of the band should have been a perfect opportunity to put their career and output into perspective. There was no objectivity in assessing their story, their rise to fame, the court cases, the split, their solo careers, what music journalists and their contemporaries thought of them and in fact what the band members and maybe even their families thought of each other and how their "journey" had affected them over the years. Instead we got some decent concert footage of the reunion and backstage ,and yes we could see that generally the band and a lot of their fans seemed happy at them being back together but that was about it. As a documentary it failed to inform and was a missed opportunity to explain the band's importance, relevance and influence.

I had come across 3 or so of this band's songs previously on various Garage comps but it's been a pleasant surprise to see and hear additional material. The sound quality is pretty good and the quality of the songs is strong throughout so they definitely had some depth to their songwriting and musicianship.I would say that this band aren't quite so rough and ready as some of their contemporaries but if you like 60s Garage then this compilation is definitely worth checking out.
