5.0 out of 5 stars Rare capture, 1 Feb. 2013

Das Paradiies is rarely performed - Thomas Moore and Schumann are a perfect couple though and this is an unjustly neglected masterpiece of secular choral music.

Glenn and Claude camping it up with Alfred and Richard. A genre much despised now but still effective, despite the snobs. Words and music. Delightful.

The best English music is 'minor' and this is in the mould. No pomposity here, just neat studies of directly religious feeling. Beautiful.

It doesn't come much grander than P. Contemporary very serious worrying about God and suffering, vexatious music but with melody too.

A first-rate collection. Accessible, human, deeply felt, skilled in the art, clear, moving. Up for many prizes & rightly so.
