5.0 out of 5 stars Best Sci-Fi movie of our time yet, 8 Mar. 2005
Suggested by Isaac Asimoy's book on Robots and the three laws comes this spectacular film with star-studded performances and mind-blowing special effects. In my opinion the best film of 2004! Directed by Alex Proyas and with big-producer John Davis.
Set in the really cool futuristic year of Chicago 2035 Robots are a part of our everyday life, they live among us, they look after our children and we trust them. But can they be trusted? Well as you can tell the answer is NO. One man saw it coming - but it wasn't Will Smith's character as it is stated. After the apparent suicide of Dr. Alfred Lanning (Oscar-nominee James Cromwell) Del Spooner (Will Smith) is on the case but starts to find that perhaps it was not a suicide. He becomes suspicious after meeting Sonny (Alan Tudyk) a robot that was hiding in Alfred's office after his death. Del tries to get deeper into the case but fails as Sonny is unique, he has secrets, dreams. With the help of U.S.R. employee Susan Calvin (Bridget Moynahan) it starts to emerge that there is defintely something wrong with these new N.S 5 robots, and perhaps a much greater threat.
Co-starring Bruce Greenwood and Chi McBride. Surprising enough ILM were not the SGI makers but Digital Domain, most stuff in the film was computerised apart from the people. One of the best things in the film was defintely Del's car, that lush Audi, it was real!
In my opinion the acting was a good as it gets, not oscar material but then it was not really that type of movie. The visual effects were fantastic and the line-up of cast was good.
The 2 disc-set DVD is cool, the film on the first disc with some extras such as the making of and commentary by the director and screenwriter. Second disc is packed with features such as deleted/extended scenes, a full production making of and the director's diary.
Well in my opinion I Robot was one of the best sci-fi movies I have ever seen. Well worth a look especially if you loved Ridley Scott's Blade Runner or Spielberg's A.I.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great game, but this version has problems on newer PC's, 20 Feb. 2005
I bought this game after hearing how good it was and also I am a great fan of the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise so buying Chris Sawyer's first game was perfect. But it will not work on an NT operating-system (Windows 2000, NT 4.0, XP)
The one great thing about this game is that it is not a one locomotive simulator such as Railroad Tycoon, in this game you get to build roads, railways, airports, harbours and buy trains, planes and automobiles. Also it is like SimCity as you link cities together and if you get a really good transport system going the cities will expand from the money made and villages can turn into giant cities.
The graphics are 8-bit, 256 colours, but in 1994-1995 they were amazing, they differ slightly to RollerCoaster Tycoon as less colourful and detailed. The music can sometimes get annoying but they are only old batch MIDI files so I can live with that. They did not have such adavance systems in those days.
Now people have been saying in their reviews about a patch from openTTD and which will make the game work on XP, but this "replay" version may state Windows 95 on it but it is the orignal DOS version so a no-go for NT systems. But it will work perfectly with 95,98,ME or any DOS system.
One of the great simulaton games to date and still adored and played by many people.

5.0 out of 5 stars Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire, 19 Feb. 2005
A very moving film based in the time of the Holocaust and on the entrepeuner Oskar Schindler who tried to save as many Jews as he could even though the Nazi's were watching. The film gives a sort of documentary feel as it is in black & white whilst as I have heard real footage was also used in the film from the Holocaust.
"Saving Private Ryan" followed on from this film in 1998 as another one of Steven Spielberg's adaptions on the WWII. But "Schindler's List" is not such a war movie but Speilberg trying to show us how one man can make a difference whilst the Nazi's are all powerful. Liam Neeson as Oskar Schindler was the perfect part for him, giving it all he could and helping to turn this movie into a masterpiece. A very emotional side from him nearer the end showing us how Oskar Schindler may have been a member of the Nazi party but that didn't mean he was one of them. Spielberg as always lets himself streak off through the film adding a touch of his own brilliance and focussing on the little girl in the red dress which was cleverly put into the black & white cinematography.
You will be wondering of course if a movie of such standard as this won any awards, yes it did winning seven academy awards including Best Director and Best Picture. I am sure that it was a mistake for Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley and Ralph Fiennes not to win an award but it does not matter as without them the film would not be what it is. John Williams as always contributes to the film with another one of his unforgettable scores.
As it it says in the film "The List is Life."

2.0 out of 5 stars The untold true story that inspired the legend??!, 18 Feb. 2005
I never saw this film in the cinema, but I heard that it was a flop at the box-office but I thought that I would see the Directors Cut version of it, I can see why it didn't do too well. From the producer of Pirates of the Carribean and the writer of Gladiator King Arthur was disappointing.
This is NOT an untold true story. I don't know where the filmakers got these so called "facts" from? In the film they make out Arthur to be half-roman, half-british, he serves the Rome as do his Knights of the round-table, he even says that he went to Rome? Well I have never heard of that in the story. And also Merlin is not a wizard who lives in the mountains of Snowdonia like legend says but an old warrior who lives in a Forest and has his own army of savages. At one point Arthur threatens to kill him, legend says they were not enemies. I will not write more of the ill mistakes they made and all this made up history. Like most Jerry Bruckemier productions its just nonsense and entertainment.
Clive Owen was wooden through-out, Keira Knightley was like she is in all films, cute and an excellent actress. Why do they get married at the end when there isn't evena love story between them, yeah well once they kiss but that about it. I got more of an impression that Guineverre (Keira Knightley) loving Lancelot (Ioan Gruffudd). The epic fighting scenes may have been spectacular and the visual effects too but that does not save the film.
So overall the film may have been good entertainment, but just another Hollywood blockbuster at the end of the day, special effects, great line-up of cast but a lousy script and the usual producers.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better..., 29 Jan. 2005
Newcomers to this game will find it brilliant, fans of the original might not. RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is basically like the game before it, which in ways is good and bad.
The parks are bigger, there are real parks like in the first game which are 5 of the Six Flags Theme Parks. More themes, bigger rollercoasters and more...but this does not make the game any better.
Bad development, very slow tilt on the screen so if you want to get to a location in the park it will take ages to get to it. In this all the Parks are all ready for you to play, so when you complete the objective on a park there is no real point in it.
Graphics are similar but if you put it in a high resolution you will see that they are more detailed, sound is of course brilliant like in the first. Again you don't need really high system requirements so it will work on basically most computers.
Game could have been better but still an exciting game to play.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best strategy games ever!, 18 Jan. 2005
This game is just sooooo COOL! You have all these plots of land basically and then you have to turn them into multi-million theme parks! I love all the rides and I have spent whole days playing this game, seeing you lose track of time! After completing the objectives on your parks you then unlock new-ones!
I think the game is superb seeing only Chris Sawyer who programmed & designed it and Simon Foster who did the graphics made the game. Hence, with this infogrames version of the game, it says "complete version" on it but I don't know if it has the Corkscrew/Added Attractions and Loppy Landscapes expansion-packs, I don't have this version of the game.
A must-have for all strategy gamers, and in my opinion one of the best computer games ever made!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Dire, an insult to Batman!!!, 18 Jan. 2005
This review is from: Batman & Robin [DVD] [1997] (DVD)
This movie is dire, I loved all the other Batman movies including the most terecent one before this (Batman Forever) but this is just horribly bad! This time George Clooney takes on the lead of Batman but delivers a very wooden performance, Arnie was good at his part, Dr. Freeze, EVIL!! Chris O'Donnel was again Robin but completely over-acted and thats the under-statement of the century! Uma Therman was just GOOOORGEOUS in this movie as Poison Ivy but her acting wasn't brilliant and Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl was pophustrous!!! Batgirl, that just ruined it, what a ridiculous character!
In this Batman movie Dr. Freeze and Poison Ivy have joined league to freeze Gotham City and breed Ivy's plants over the city, so now Batman & Robin and now a new firend, Batgirl, must stop them before its too late...
Nearly everything in this movie was poor, including the SFX, special effects have nvever been Batman film's strongest point but they were awful in this. The costumes were stupid as they looked like something out of The Incredibles. A rating and overall rating of the film:
Directing/Acting 2.5/5
SFX 1/5
Costumes 0/5
Story 3/5
Comparison to other Batman films 0.5/5
If you are a loyal Batman fan then you will agree with me that this movie is terrible, to anybody else I say DO NOT WATCH THIS!

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific film!, 13 Jan. 2005
In my opinion I still think this is Pixar/Disney's best movie, even though their new one is The Incredibles. Great story, great animation, great film! Featuring the voice of Billy Crystal!
Monsters Inc in our term is a power station, producing electricity for all the cities and towns, only that it is a different way to generate power, scaring little kids and using their scremas to convert to power (very eco-nomical!). Sully is the champion scarer and his friend Mike does all his paper-work for him and chooses who he scares! Like all Pixar movies it contains all the humour that you need in a film, with a bit more.
Vey imaginative ideas like walking into a door that is just not connected to wall, its just there!! But when opening it walking into a little child's room in some country! I consider you renting this if you haven't seen it because it is terrific and very enjoyable to watch, and I'm 14!

5.0 out of 5 stars The True Metallica!, 12 Jan. 2005
This review is from: Metallica (Audio CD)
This album shows the side of the REAL Metallica, heavy metal, thrash metal and then softer songs with sweet words!
"Enter Sandman" is personally my favourite track on the album, a cool guitar rif, great drumming and heavy bass!! "Sad But True" follows as another favourite with a slow drum beat but a good guitar part. "Unforgiven on track 4 follows a soft song with an exhilirating guitar solo and a good chorus!
So if you want to listen to Metallica when they were at their best then buy this album, you'll never look back!!
