Very boring, a long drawn out description of ex-pat's view on living in Africa thirty years ago with all the attitudes of an 80's British ex-pat family. I didn't even finish reading it which is unusual for me and deleted it from my e-reader so that it wouldn't be taking up space.

A great yarn about travelling around in a VW with the whole family. This family spend a year on the road, crossed a few continents and were still talking to each other at the end of it all - no small feat in a small camper van.

4.0 out of 5 stars changing your mind in order to change your life, 10 Nov. 2014

This is a good common sense description of how Rhonda mage big changes in her family lifestyle. If you are curious about reducing your spending, making do instead of buying more stuff, beginning a garden etc you may enjoy this book.
It is not a step by step guide, it's more of an essay on changing your mindset, her website and the busy forum are where you can find the nitty gritty details.

5.0 out of 5 stars The only book on decluttering that I am going to keep, 2 Nov. 2014

This review is from: Simplify (Kindle Edition)
I found this to be a beautiful Sunday morning read, I'm sure it would be equally enjoyable at any time, that's just when I found the time to read it.
As the name implies it is not an overly complicated book to read, Joshua's style is warm and easy.
Simplicity is not simple to practicefif you have been stuck in clutter-land as I have been. I was raised in a house with lots of belongings as a total contrast to my parents who were raised with very little and so could not bring themselves to throw anything out. Clothes were passed on through my cousins which was great and very useful however I did learn the fear involved in the mentality of "we might need that someday".
I will read this book a few times and that is not a criticism of the book, rather that my attitudes need to slowly change in order for these changes to be permanent and comfortable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really simple, really tasty paleo desserts - quick and easy treats, 31 Oct. 2014
Better than most low budget paleo recipe books I've looked at. Lots of simple paleo recipes that use mostly use the same ingredients so that once you stock up on things like coconut oil and ground almond there will be no stopping you.
I also like that Louise talks about changing to paleo and how difficult she found it at first so you know that she understands how difficult it might seem to you as you begin to change how or what you eat. This book is not not just for paleo beginners though as I've been happily paleo for three years now and still love trying out recipes from this book.
Another plus is that many of these recipes are "No Bake" recipes - just mix the ingredients and put them in the fridge. As I'm not yet an accomplished baker I love these simple but really recipes.

It's important for young people to feel Ok about their eating choices, peer pressure is strong and many social events centre around food.
I think this book can help teens to get their heads around the maze that is special dietary needs and socialising.
The writer is upfront about her own experience as a teen trying to deal with taking responsibility for her own health and all that that entails.
I would highly recommend this book for any family or young person who is following a special dietary regime.
I'm a adult who eats paleo/primal and even as an adult I have found that social events can sometimes be awkward. Having a few prepared answers for frequently asked questions is always helpful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable read, 28 Jun. 2014

Thoroughly enjoyable book about the highs and lows of an unconventional lifestyle. Marie is a natural story teller with a great rue for detail. You might be forgiven for thinking that you were sitting across the table from her with a frothy coffee in your hands listening to her and chatting rather than reading.
Telling the stories using the device of the months passing by was a great idea, everything flows naturally and you move easily through the year with the storyteller and her family.

I really enjoyed Marie's second book detailing the life and adventures of living on a narrow boat. I live off-grid so I enjoy reading about others who are also living outside the conventional norms and the challenges that this brings.
Marie has a great sense of humour and is a natural story teller.

3.0 out of 5 stars Simple and basic, 31 May 2014

Good introduction to cooking with a halogen oven, basic and to the point. My only quibble is the lack of a table of contents - even if only for the recipes. I know from having downloaded cheap recipe books in the past that i am not likely to spend much time trying to find recipes when i have to page through the book.
Note to self stop downloading recipe books without a good table of contents.
