Hard book to review!, 7 Aug 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Okay here goes. I have like many out there just watched the series "the returned" on tv and for the most part I found it thoroughly enjoyable, creepy, a little disturbing and not to put it mildly a bit befuddling especially how the last episode finished I am presuming a second series on the horizon.
With that in mind I sent for this on vine as the series which I enjoyed immensely was based loosely on this book.
The book arrived and I was blown away by how well it was written proof errors ignored. It's a thought provoking book. What would you do with a returned loved one. How would you react if you did not know the threat to yourself or family. This book has your emotions riding high and then low. Your confused, saddened then happy and then slam your confused again.
Is it about religion, is it alluding ti ethnic cleansing tentative linkage here but if you look at camp situation and context you may understand where I am coming from.
I finished this book only to instantly want to pick it up and read it again. It's thought provoking it in my opinion would make an excellent English lit book or study in a book club because there is so much to explore about us as a race our fears and our weaknesses. I still cannot decide if its a three four or five star review so I settled on four.
I think everyone should read a book that makes you think outside the box and this for me is that book twenty first century style. It's Harper Lee, Its Death of a Salesman it's a great book. Go on order yourself a coffee put your feet up and wait to be taken on an emotional ride.
Did I enjoy this book, well yes I did well i think i did i have just started reading again. Was I horrified by some of the events well yes I was they remind me of the persecution and injustice still be committed in the world. It's a confusing one for me as is my review, plain confusing.
