Euro Truck Simulator 2 (PC CD)
Euro Truck Simulator 2 (PC CD)
Offered by Game Trade Online
Price: £12.40

5.0 out of 5 stars yes!, 15 Sep 2014
firstly let me say that i have little, or no, interest in trucks (though i was rather fond of long distance clara in pigeon street). after seeing a couple of videos on youtube and reading some reviews most people only had good things to say about it. so i got the game for a great price and thought i'd give it a bash.
very glad i did. the driving games i'm used to playing don't involve a huge amount of strategy. this on the other hand...does. most of it of a financial nature. that doesn't get in the way of the truckin' however (parp parp!).
the AI seems to have improved since the game was first released and mostly the CPU drivers stay out of the way (mostly). the graphics are good and the scenery varied enough (wait till you do your first delivery along a winding country road. at night. in the pouring rain ('K' turns on your high beams and 'P' for your wipers).
when you're starting out try and resist the bank loan...instead concentrate on getting some miles (and cash) under your belt from the jobs that you're offered before buying a truck.
the only issue i really have is reversing. it's not the fault of the game...it me using the keyboard. it isn't up to the job of the counter-intuitive way that a truck, with a trailer, reverses. it's a small gripe and is more to do with my skills than anything else. if you're using a wheel then you'll find it a lot easier.

golfing. the premise is simple as is the game. nothing fancy is required for something to be fun and this is fun. the holes go on for ever. press and draw back your finger anywhere on the screen to set the power and release to take the shot.
some of the holes present more of a challenge than others but the difficulty is set just about right.
great time waster and well worth the asking price.

the sole and the main shoe started to part company after just 3 weeks (just at the side where my foot bends).
been wearing Airwalk for years...won't be buying another pair after this.
they've disappointed me greatly and have been binned.

recently got a Squier Bass VI after years of wanting one and love it.
some may prefer a heavier gauge on the low strings. i like these just the way they are...but i'm a guitarist...not a bassist. the low E can be a bit flappy but not enough to be a bother.
great value compared to some of the other brands i have looked at and they last a long time.

4.0 out of 5 stars good quality shoes, 15 Aug 2014

i've got feet of size 12 so don't like the white trim that adorns most shoes such as this as i think it makes them stand out too much. these are subtle and are rather stylish. like the blue detailing which is suitably low-key. they fit well also and i have quite wide feet. two slight caveats for me though.
1: as the other reviewer said a bit of padding around the heal wouldn't go amiss. i'm used to skate shoes and miss this. my heel slides up and down a bit.
2: it must be the kind of rubber used in the soles but when i go from wet ground outdoors to smooth flooring indoors the squeaking is rather annoying. loud and annoying. takes quite a while for it to go as the shoes dry underneath.

TC Electronic HALL OF FAME MINI Amps & effects Reverb - delay
TC Electronic HALL OF FAME MINI Amps & effects Reverb - delay

this is such a good reverb unit. i haven't come across any external effects pedal that produces anything as lush sounding...or as authentic sounding.
you'd think that reverb is reverb but the range of 'verbs that this thing produces is nothing short of incredible. from a light spring through to a deep and cavernous sploing (?). you'll find something to match your clean, crunch or filth settings. the toneprint app works flawlessly on my nexus 4 (android) and makes it so easy to switch between different settings and the unit's single knob just adjusts the level (i usually keep it at around 2 o'clock).
it's, also, as well built as any of the TC gear i've ever used. that's to say it's solid and well finished. instils much confidence. i've not had any interference or noise issues.

if i never used another brand, or gauge, of string in my life i'd be quite happy.
went back to ernie balls for a couple of sets as i got them cheaply...won't be going back again. they just didn't have the same feel or longevity that i've gotten used to from d'addario.
bravo.

NEW! Sony PS3 Playstation 3 Official Wireless Headset & Charging Cradle Black

4.0 out of 5 stars mixed feelings but..., 15 Jun 2014

overall it's a nice bit of kit. looks good and is easy to use. paired with my nexus 4 seamlessly and also with my PS3 (even easier with the PS3 but that shouldn't be a surprise). my main issue is with the clip-on piece that goes round one's ear. far, far, too easy for it to come off. i understand that they want it to be able to be used on both ears but this mechanism should be re-thought as it is in no way sturdy enough and cheapens the whole thing for me.
once it's actually seated properly it fits snugly enough and the quality of both the microphone and speaker are good.
one other thing...give it a good, long, charge before you first use it. a long charge...

it does its job well and does give tendons a good workout but i think there are a couple of caveats (at least there are for me). firstly, it isn't as quiet as it could be. two of the pistons squeak when they're pressed. thought this might decrease as i used it more but sadly it hasn't. it isn't terribly loud but i can't use it sitting in the office as one of my colleagues would hit me with a bit of wood. secondly, the base of it could be more ergonomically designed. it doesn't sit very comfortably either in the palm or when using the thumb method. maybe a high-density foam would provide a nicer experience?
these issues aside it does work and you'll notice the differences in your wrists and fingers after not too long at all.

Planet Waves Joe Satriani Chrome Dome Guitar Pick
Planet Waves Joe Satriani Chrome Dome Guitar Pick
Price: £5.75

4.0 out of 5 stars unusual and rather nice, 1 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
i know that many guitarists have use metal things to pick strings with over the years but i'd never tried it.
the chrome dome feels great in the hand and you can produce some unusual noises with it. i have one concern though...it might just be my style (strummier than most?) but i noticed that after half an hour of playing that there was some deterioration to my strings. especially the D. using ernie ball 10s. this probably isn't a problem for Joe (nice chap by the way...met him on the flying in a blue dream tour) but i don't get my strings changed after each 'performance'. the other, four, nylon picks are of good quality too and are a nice gauge.
so, in summation, i won't use this pick all the time (doubt he does either) but am very glad that i've purchased it.
