5.0 out of 5 stars Redefining the possible for image stabilisation, 25 Mar. 2016
I actually bought this lens at the UK Photoshow as I had a good opportunity to test it out whilst there (and they were doing a show discount). I am totally in awe. It seems to have redefined what is possible as far as state of the art image stabilisation is concerned. I haven't had it long enough to comment on image quality (though so far it seems to be right up there with the outstanding quality of my other Fujinon lenses) Now, established "wisdom" says that for APS-C sensor cameras you should look to use shutter speeds of no slower than 1 / (lens focal length X 1.5), ie you should be using shutter speeds of 1/600 at 400mm. With this lens, the image stabilisation is allowing me to regularly get crystal crisp images at shutter speeds of 1/30 when zoomed right in. The image I've attached to this review is not cropped (and yes, I should have moved back to get the model's chin in), and the EXIF data shows the shutter speed was 1/25 at a full frame equivalent of 600mm and yes, HAND-HELD!!

Other comments, the lens seems very solidly built, zoom & focus rings are silky smooth have the right amount of friction and the lens itself is remarkably light considering it's focal length

5.0 out of 5 stars Best guitar gadget ever, 8 Jan. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Cheapest Christmas present and the best. I spent most of Christmas day changing the strings on all my guitars (steel string, nylon & electric) plus mandolin. It works a treat, but have a look at this video from Taylor which gives great advice on how to use it to change strings "The Taylor Way"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80EuGOXgoOo

I also changed the strings on my son's guitar and he was so grateful he couldn't contain himself, "For God's sake Dad, you've been in my bedroom again and messed with my guitar haven't you? Leave my stuff alone and stick to your own will you!"

1.0 out of 5 stars Fake and faulty - do not purchase, 7 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is clearly a fake. It comes wrapped in a piece of paper, not even a pack. The label is clearly not from the manufacturer. The card is faulty and cannot be formatted. I'm seriously unhappy

4.0 out of 5 stars quality leather retro case, with good rather than perfect fit for the X-T1, 18 Aug. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Low price, good quality leather, but not a glove like fit. It's made for the X-T1 with the 18-55mm kit lens and it does what it says on the tin. As others have said, you have to take the case completely off to get tat the battery or SD card, but if you just want to carry the camera whilst you're out and about it's perfect. It also doesn't scream "I've got an expensive camera" which I like a lot. Although you can unhinge the case to use the camera I have found it much easier to take the case top off completely (only two press studs - easy on and off). I think this will look better with use (as leather often does)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic lens, 11 July 2014
This is a truly epic lens. It is certainly the best telephoto zoom I've ever owned, and that includes Canon and Olympus glass. The image quality is outstanding, plus the closest focus distance makes this a usable alternative to a macro for some shots (eg, close ups of insects fro a few feet away). Take a look at this image taken with this lens - and that's why I'd say it's the "bee's kness" http://33.media.tumblr.com/f73859b2d04e497ab868104375c7ff4a/tumblr_nah036TyXp1tjdg5po1_1280.jpg

4.0 out of 5 stars Great lens, but ...., 11 July 2014
Yes, wonderful performance from this lens but I'm sorry I bought it. Why? Well, I already have the "standard" Fujinon XF18-55mm zoom and the performance improvement from the 35mm prime lens is negligible. Note, that's not because the 35mm is bad, anything but, it's just that the 18-55mm is so good that you'll really be hard pressed to see an image quality difference. "Aha", you say, "but I can open it up to F1.4 which is at least a stop better than the widest the zoom can do". True, but the prime doesn't have image stabilisation but the zoom does. I think the IS on the zoom is good for 2+ stops, so the ONLY reason I use the 35mm prime is for when I want to open it right up for a narrow DoF (which I do ... sometimes). If I'm shooting in low light I stick with the 18-55mm

So, a truly great lens (if too damn noisy when focusing for video use), but before you buy, ask yourself how many times you will take off the standard zoom and use it. (Yes, I know, you're going to buy it anyway because you want to)

1.0 out of 5 stars overheats and stops, 4 Jun. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It looks good, but ..

I tried it first in a Mac and found it extremely slow for USB 3. I then transferred it to a PC. It copied one file then overheated and stopped. I removed it, let it cool down and tried again. Same result. I'd like to think I just had a bad one, but other reviews have also complained about overheating and failing

5.0 out of 5 stars Works with all camera/flashes with a TRX setting, 29 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I use these with a Yonguo flash and a Fujifilm X-T1. You only get manual settings, of course, but that's fine. If you have a Fuji camera make sure you get these units (ie, the mark 2s) and not the earlier units as they won't work with Fuji

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for Fuji, 29 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I thought any of the RF-603s would work with Fujifilm cameras with flash in manual mode, but not so. I've used these before on a Canon 7D (ie, what they were intended for) and they're great. If you have a Fuji you need the RF-603II units, which have a TRX setting. I now have these instead and all is fine

1.0 out of 5 stars it's a fake, 3 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Lots of things tell you this is a fake. The device itself is poorly made and only worked for a few weeks. The slip case that came with it is poorly stiched and there is no way Canon would have sanctioned it's name to be on it. Yes it's cheap, but it's also a dud
