Excellent, a quality notebook with firm binding and hardback cover. The cover phrase provoked plenty of laughs and also leads to many interesting conversations when out and about. Well worth the price!

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite modern, 25 Jan. 2014

This review is from: Piccadilly Jim [DVD] (DVD)
Quite a modern feel to this book adaptation from the great P. G. Wodehouse but a fun story and ably adapted by Julian Fellowes. Costumes and sets are brilliant and the cast is great, they all look to be enjoying themselves! However, I do have to say the original book is better so read the book first and then watch the film.

The very talented Joyce Grenfell is seen here in excellent form with a good variety of sketches in both b&w and colour. Well worth adding to a DVD collection, there are two discs full of comedy gems.

Love these 2 CD's! Very nostalgic, takes me back in time, my parents were great fans of Perry Como. The sound quality is excellent and if you like "Strictly" then these tracks provide perfect dance music.

Gibsons Downton Abbey Jigsaw Puzzle
Gibsons Downton Abbey Jigsaw Puzzle
Offered by TRUEBLOODLOVER
Price: £15.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Christmas Present, 25 Jan. 2014
This was a Christmas present I received. The outer box is of good quality but inside the four puzzles are only in thin plastic bags, I had actually expected 4 small boxes as the outer box is large. The puzzle pieces are good quality cardboard, standard size for a 500 piece puzzle. I've just started the first puzzle, they are difficult ones to do and not really suitable for children, definitely aimed at the dedicated jigsaw puzzler!

For the price I would have expected better inside packaging than four thin plastic bags, probably you're paying here for the Downton Abbey name too.

Suitable only for those who really like tough puzzles or the most dedicated DA fan/collector!

3.0 out of 5 stars Spoilt by series 3!, 23 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The first series of "Ashes to Ashes" was okay. It took a couple of episodes to really get going but the recurring storyline about Alex's parents was original and well played out. Even though I had guessed the true identity of the clown early on the ending was a big surprise! It made sense to have a second series and that didn't disappoint.

Series 2 was great, I really enjoyed the police corruption storyline and how Gene, Alex and Co. fought for the truth. The final episode was truly brilliant, I really thought this was where it all ends and everything is nicely rounded off. It fitted to "Life on Mars" very well indeed and gave Alex an original new start. No need for a third series.

Series 3 was absolutely awful. Only one episode captured my attention and that is where two cops from Manchester came down to London chasing a thief. The Jim Keats character was unnecessary, Gene Hunt has enough evil to deal with, he doesn't need a fellow officer giving him trouble. The violence was gratuitous, the language often disgusting and by the final two episodes I had the distinct impression the lead characters just wanted to get it over with. Keats wrecking the office was the lowest point, so low in fact it was pathetic. The only point of interest with a link to "Life on Mars" was that the body of a young policeman, killed on Coronation Day, had been found and his death would be investigated and the mystery solved. This, to myself, meant Gene Hunt would finally be able to lay the ghosts of his past to rest and either retire or carry on fighting crime with his all new "special" team. But no, this was left as part of a story, rather like a filler to get the full 57 minutes in. The writers and producers could have done so much more and done it all so much better if they had stuck to one simple rule: Never Change A Winning Formula!

"Life on Mars" wonderful, "Ashes to Ashes" started off well but failed to keep to the original concept.
