This game will make you look twice at the FIFA series, 28 Jan 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
I've been playing the FIFA series since 99'. So I was expecting a lot from EA this year since 07' was a huge dissapointment and 08' took the first leap towards the next gen experience. PES was too arcade-ish, so FIFA was all that mattered to me.
My first immpresion of the game was one of astonishment. This game has made PES look poor and no where near as good.
The amount of leagues is immpresive, but could still be expanded. The player realisim is accurate and the pyhsics have been improved. A few weird glitches that popped up in previous FIFA's are gone.
Online play has been upgraded and I found it easy to spend several hours playing my friends. The player updates have to be bought but there is a code on the manual that gives the oppertunity to update one league for the rest of the season.
The be a pro season wasn't my cup of tea but I still managed to complete a few seasons as my created player. Manager mode is pretty much the same. Though for some reason EA took out some features since 08' such as the kit number selection. Quite minor, though.
The difficulty settings aren't accurate. I find professional harder than world class, but easier than ledgendery. Whilst semi-pro and amatuer are ridiculusly easy. The gap between semi-pro and professional is large. And I prefer to play Ledgendery than professional... Whatever.
Sometimes the game can be quite frustrating but I still go back and play it 15 minutes later.
In short, nothing worse but there is a lot of room for improvement. The introduction of more manager options was quite dissapointing. The "economy" of running a club is not well done. The only source of income is the sponser, which payes either too little or too much.
I'm already looking forward to the 2010 installment, I just wish the manager mode was sorted out. At least things are going in the right direction, for now.
