5.0 out of 5 stars The third in the peladon trilogy is the best..., 2 Feb. 2008
This story is what i would like to hear of more often from bigfinish
please. A great return to the besieged planet of Peladon. But this time its even better than ever. I love all the peladon stories, so cool and atmospheric. And this one has all the much needed ingredients to make a Peladon story work: Alpha Centauri, Arcturus and an ice warrior. This story is fresh though as well, not just the same court intrigue or miners going awol. This is a great story with Sutekh's mummy on it! ha ha. But no, this story is very well paced and enjoyable. its sad to see Caroline Morris going, hopefully she may come back for a few more in the future! Please! Peter Davison leads a great cast in a story dripping with atmosphere and lovely baby aggedors. This is truly a story of a type id like to see more!! I think the suspense of wondering who the voice belongs to is very well handled....mysterious for a change. I didnt guess who the culprit was this time at all. I would love to see this story adapted for tv. Yes, it is that good...

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite frankly a wonderful debut album, 22 Jan. 2008
This review is from: Say It (Audio CD)
I only brought this album today, and i love it already. I saw the producer, had never heard of Brit before, but thought well ill give it a go. and boy im gonna give this album a few more goes very soon too. So Brit could fall into the list of many new teen Christian singers that seem to be coming out at the moment, but like Jessie Daniels, this girl is definitely a winner. There is so much honesty and fun and vibe in this record. Tedd t always has been a safe pair of producing hands. With songs written in part by Cindy Morgan too, this all comes together for a real blast.

i love albums and artists who dont hide away from their thoughts on different subjects. and here is a girl who doesnt.

The album has a feel that is not overproduced. The tone is just right. The vibe of the opening Holiday really kicks you into rhythm straight away. But there are also plenty of softer and intense songs too. Dont Worry Now Is a wonderful song of loss and healing, and When She Cries is also a brilliant song with a grown up lyric. This girl is brilliant. I love the pop of Say It and You. I love her strong words too on Ready too. Brilliant stuff.

This is definitely worth buying i can tell you.

5.0 out of 5 stars The end of an era..., 22 Jan. 2008
Doctor Who audio adventures are the best out in the whole world of who these days, the big finish team love to do brilliant and exciting stories that keep you hooked, even if the story has sad undertones. So we have had a load of brilliant adventures with the eighth doctor and Charlie Pollard, played brilliantly by India Fisher. But nearly all good things come to an end.

The cybermen are very much in the background in this story, but that does not mean this story isnt terrific. This story has very strong characterisation. The tight dialogue between the Doctor and Charlie is right on the nail for me. Paul is as excellent as ever. But i love the cyberplanner. A touch of the invasion, without being too much of a touch if you get what i mean. I love the cyubermen voices in this story too, somewhere between the new series and the tenth planet.

The elements all come together and gell to make the death of Charlie very moving and unexpected. The last scene with the doctor reading the note Charlie left for him is one of the best scenes in big finish who ever. This story definitely has class with plenty of fresh ideas and great acting. An enjoyable romp! Im glad to see that India hasnt finished quite yet though, for she is back in The Condemned, cant wait til thats out...

5.0 out of 5 stars This is really really lovely stuff..., 9 Jan. 2008
This review is from: How You Live (Audio CD)
This is DEFINITELY Pogs best album. I love the whole new feel to the music on this one. Pog have had very good acoustic songs before, but never a whole album in the acoustic style. Now at last we have a real brilliant album here. That is no understatement. This album is really nice to listen to.

The lyrics are more in depth as well i feel, more open and honest lyrics this time round. This is not just for kids anymore, this is for anyone this album. I dare you to listen to the great songs like the Pog cover of the great Kelly Minter song Any Way, a real cool take on a classic song.

And then there are the final trio of songs, Broken Thing, Because You are and Before The Throne Of Grace. These are intense songs of faith and healing. This is what i need to hear more often. these girls are on fine form indeed.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best of the trilogy of super baddies...., 27 Dec. 2007
This review is from: Omega (Doctor Who) (Audio CD)
This story is really clever.

You really do believe that the Doctor is in this nearly from the start to finish. But to find out the main bulk is just omega with his fractured mind is a brilliant twist and wonderfully different.

I like all the good and fresh ideas that people try to think up for doctor who. nev fountain is a great new writer for the range and i would say this is the best of the super baddie trilogy.

Omega isnt entirely evil, he's mostly just misunderstood. The other thing is the doc is not perfect. He is fallible. (a fact which has been evident right through all of his incarnations, not just from peter davison as ive heard a lot of people saying. Remember Katarina and Sara Kingdom and so on???

This story is easy to listen to, with no intrusive annoying sounds just plain old fashioned entertainment. this story is highly recommended for anyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars How diverse and brilliant can the big finish range be?!, 27 Dec. 2007
Doctor who has had mad scientists, mad monsters, repetitive robots saying kill all the flipping time and loads of other great ingredients ever since its beginnings with the late great william hartnell back in 1963. And now what do we get from that great company big finish productions? We get Dr who and the pirates! With Bill Oddie. before i even listened to this story i knew it would be fun. With bill its not going to be anything else. there is tonnes of humour and also a few sorrowful moments which blend very well with the witty overall theme of this story. Maggie stables perhaps gives one of her best performances as the great companion evelyn smythe. But you know what really makes this story? the daft singing. Colin Baker is laughably good and the lyrics are flaming hilarious. Jaci Rayner really acxtuallyw rote a beauty with this story. In fact, this does feel like it could have been a William Hartnell story, with the historicness of old pirates and such. I love this play to bits. It really is a dose of good humour. Listen to this if youre feeling down and need perking up!

5.0 out of 5 stars so good, but it leaves me wanting MOOOOOORRRREEE!, 20 Dec. 2007
This review is from: Made To Be Me (Audio CD)
So former TBC frontgirl Shell has gone to the solo department. Here we have a horrible ep, well, no not horrible at all actually, its just i hate eps, rather have a full album. The thing with eps is they may leave you needing more and more might not be in vision for ages. I hope that this is not the case with Shell. Shell HAS to have a whole album out soon. This little sampler disc is so delicious and groovy. She writes more personal lyrics than when she was with tbc. The music is more raw edged and she is just so cool. I love this stuff shown here. The La La Song is the best pop song ive heard for about 10 years at least. I love the funky hook and the strong lyrics. Boy, this girl is gonna be big if she carries on bringing out stuff like this. Im not going to mark down this stuff just because of how few tracks there are, thats just stupid. But i just cant wait to see a whole Shell album matierialise soon. Im thirsty for more. The ballads are so much more intense too, with emotion riddling through every line. I love this girls perfect voice. Man, she is so good. This is definitely a superior substitute for any secular stuff. God is good and you can feel Him in this powerful 5 track disc. Good stuff Shell, you rock!

5.0 out of 5 stars YOOOOOOOOOUUUUU BEAUUUUUUUTY!!!!!, 20 Dec. 2007
This review is from: Mind Your Head (Audio CD)
tbc's debut album has to be one of the best debut performances ive ever heard in all of my life. this album just happens to be full to bursting with faith and hope and just overall gorgeousness. I love the old town style on some songs like Do You Know What Its Like, which seems to have a distinctly sixtiesish flavour to it, love the guitar piece. And also a brilliant lyric. Then on to the thumping vibe of When I Get To Heaven, with its simple but hookable message and actually quite to the point if you really listen to it. Backslider, wow, here it comes, the great powerhouse of the album. A real rockpop vibe that should keep you out of your seat. This song is a wicked one, a real beauty! Loved is gorgeous, to say the least. This song is even one of my mum's favourites. Ballads and tbc dont half go well together. Other highlights are the thoughtful Out Of Time and Mind Your Head. But i just love All My People, it is just so hookable and yet still fun enough to dance to. What this album is is a diamond in a rough world of music. Not many debuts are as clean and gorgeous as this one, and i heartily tell you to go and pick it up now. I know you wont be dissapointer. A great alternative to secular garbage. A real BEAUTY!!!! I hope you get what im trying to say, but this praise isnt over the top...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! What a follow up..., 20 Dec. 2007
This review is from: Talk Of The Town (Audio CD)
I have been waiting to hear an album that sounds like this one. Full to the brim with pop brilliance, topped off by stunning performances. Absolutely stunning is the least i can say about this. So, the line up has changed a bit, but these new girls are certainly already in my "cool" collection. The girls vocals all come together so well and send tingles down your spine! And that is no joke. The thing with such a great first record is it makes you think how on earth can they do any better than that? But here it is, an even better second outing with fresh sounds and vibes all the way through. The only problem i find with this album is it is far too short, but its the best 35 minutes of music ive heard for a very long time. No album has quite touched me on first listen as this wonderful little gem has. What i like a lot is these girls varied sounds, we open with a pop rock classic Faithful and then into a disco sound in We'll Keep On Dancing. Talk Of The Town is a great little tune, and the funkadelic Better Day and Calm are a must for any lover of pop with decent lyrics to it. The simplicity of I Will ALways Love You shows you dont have to go over the top with production either to get a wonderful lyric and delivery. The new girls MEG, LUCY and RACH are all great. Nat is as assured as usual, she has such a great voice. But the real gems on this album, as with the first album, are the two sumptious ballads. Beautiful is a lovely song, wonderfully sung. Youre not likely to hear a better ballad this year than this amazing song. And Goodnight is a real thought provoker, with a great contribution from the children!!! All in all this is a mega brill pop album, full of hope and encouragement for anyone who is feeling down. Anyone who needs the Lord, well check this album out and i defy you to be dissapointed. Tbc are the finest british Christian girl group around!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cant see what all the fuss is about this GREAT story!, 10 Dec. 2007
I dont agree with the views of many people about this GREAT story. I will list all the great things about it below:

Sylv McCoy: His debut as the Doctor is strong and really different from any of his predecessore. He really feels and comes across as really enjoying the role, and is full of enthusiasm for the role. He really does impress on this his first outing as one of the best incarnations of the time lord actually.

Kate O Mara: If anyone had to pretend to be the Doctors companion, no one else could have done it with the finesse that Kate O Mara does it with as the Rani in this story. Yes, and she is even stronger than in her debut and even seems to look younger! Shes really quite good looking.

Special Effects; This story definitely boasts some of the best effects from the whole classic series. The great glass spheres, the flies, the guns and all that. And the starscape start is one of my favourite opening moments of a Doctor Who story ever.

If the story really was rubbish, i do believe no one would have wanted to be in it!! And this story is actually one of my favourite stories of the whole series, and if only more stories had been like this then maybe the series wouldnt have been cancelled at all. This story really is excellent with plenty to offer for anyone who is bothered to look for them.

Another story again where the incidental music is great and eerie too. This is great stuff and I cant wait for this story to be put out on dvd.
