5.0 out of 5 stars Best Album, 16 Dec 2011
This review is from: Head First (Audio CD)
This album has undoubtedly divided fans, but what is great about Goldfrapp is that their catalogue is so diverse and strong that it's hard for fans to agree on their best work. For me, I love all their albums (apart from Seventh Tree), and Head First is my ultimate favourite. A straight-up unashamed pop album, it shows once again how diverse Goldfrapp are. The production is absolutely impeccable - beautifully layered electronic bleeps and warm synths. Believer, Dreaming and Head First are quite simply stunning, and evoke a sense of nostalgia and euphoria. An absolute masterpiece - can't wait to hear what they'll come up with on their next studio album.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the finest pop albums of all time..., 9 Aug 2007
An absolute pop masterpiece, the Boys combine energetic production alongside carefully crafted lyrics. I think this album is often dismissed as being a simple euro-dance camp fest, and although it certainly has elements of this (which make it such a fun and uplifting album) many of the songs also have a much deeper level. Each track covers a range of emotions including the hilarious Can You Forgive Her, the bizarreness of Yesterday When I Was Mad and the anxiety of Dreaming Of The Queen. Ultimately, this is not only the PSB's finest album, but undoubtedly one of the finest pop albums ever - seriously!

5.0 out of 5 stars Slick RnB Pop, 30 Jun 2004
This review is from: Surrender (Audio CD)
WOW! This is one of the best albums ive bought in ages - and i was quite surprised. All of her singles have been great, especially Surrender, but i didnt expect her album to be more than average pop fodder. However, Javine combines slick pop/RnB with a dash of soul resulting in a refreshing, catchy and high quality album, with several surprises and plenty of catchy melodies and single worthy cuts.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my fave grooving albums!, 13 Jun 2004
This review is from: Wishing (Audio CD)
Ok, Martine hasnt released an album for nearly 4 years now (I dont count the silly musicals album!). After hearing this album way back in 2000, i was SO impressed because her debut album had been quite weak. This album is still one of the few that never fails to lift my mood - the songs are alot more groovy and catchy than the debut album. The disco songs are the standouts, notably "Tonight" and "Everybody" both written by Martine. The single from this were the infectious "Im over you" and "On the radio" which was still a good effort but there could have been better singles because this album is FULL of potential hits! Its a shame that Martine seems to have abandoned her pop career as this album was signs of greater things to come. So even thought this album was released over 3 years ago, if u like uplifting dancy (but not too cheesy) pop, this album will not disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic mature pop, 13 Nov 2003
This review is from: Ladies Night (Audio CD)
Feels so good woz always going to be hard to beat, and at first listen i thought this was no way better. Now i believe they have definately maintained the high standards and produced some quality pop - and this time reflcets there true talents more so than before. People may be surprised by some of the songs on here, mainly those written by lil - shockingly personal and with beautiful melodys. Highlights here include the 3 singles and also "dont go breaking my heart","i wont be there" and the superb "nothing in the world" which would a massive number 1 of released as a single. You wont get a better pop alb around, the kittens are still the cream of pop!

3.0 out of 5 stars good but not the best, 28 Sep 2003
this was an interesting thomas series, in which we were introduced to brand new characters. But considering that 16 of the episodes focus on the new characters, we get to see less of the best characters, such as Henry, James, and Gordon. Storyline wise this certainly isnt the best series either, though there are some excellent episodes like Paint pots and Queens, Fish and Thomas and the special lettr.

4.0 out of 5 stars more new episodes, 3 Sep 2003
a good collection but still lacks excitement at times! The best episode here is SCAREDEY ENGINES, even tho it is very similar to GHOST TRAIN! other hilites include the fantastic TOBY HAD A LITTLE LAMB

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not the best, 3 Sep 2003
this is the first dvd release 4 the 6th series. Already, this series is lacking the x factor of series 2 and 5, but is a solid start to a new series. The best stories here are THE FOGMAN and GORDEN TAKES A TUMBLE. Not sure about the new characters, id prefer to c more of classic engines.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best series, 3 Sep 2003
This is the best thomas series yet. Although i far prefer michael angelis as narrator, these stories are classics. These were the days wen thomas sagas went on for several episodes, such as the Duck and Diesel storyline. Classics here include "OLD IRON" "WRONG ROAD" "GHOST TRAIN" and not forgetting of course "THOMAS AND THE MISSING CHRISTMAS TREE" There woz no sign of annoying new new characters such as Salty, but defining classic characters such James, Henry, Gordon and Daisy. A must for any TRUE thomas collecters

2.0 out of 5 stars is this really the best of Thomas!?, 3 Sep 2003
it woz about time a best of was released but this is a very poor collection! Firstly, the episodes are in no order, meaning that stories from different series's are all mixed up. However, the stories on this video are are of mixed quality, and i feel that most of the best episodes have been left out. Wheras there are some very good stories on here, i wouldnt say all of them are regarded as the best ones! What about classics such as "THE FLYING KIPPER" "OLD IRON" and "THOMAS AND THE MISSING XMAS TREE" This collection wasnt given enough care or consideration. Lets hope another best of is released in 2004, when the last Thomas series is made!
