After reading 'Enders', I knew I had to read this short story as well.
Why?
Read 'Enders' for yourself, then you'll know why.
These excellent short stories are a not only great reads, they provide great background for reading the 'Green Woman' series, starting with 'The Dark Citadel'.

This may be a short story, one of several short tasters for the main event, 'The Green Woman' series, but what it lacks in length it more than makes up for in intensity and emotion. My blood is still singing in the grip of the tale even as I write this review.
Jane Dougherty has the ability to pull the reader very quickly into the world she has created and make them feel involved up to their ears in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Three interesting shorts and one great taster!, 15 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The three short stories are refreshingly original in concept and are well written.
However, it is in the introduction taster to his novel 'The Lady of Foxdale' that the author appears to have 'found his voice'.
The story starts slowly at first but quickly gathers pace to draw the reader into what promises to be a engrossing tale.

On Parson's Creek
On Parson's Creek
Price: £3.77

5.0 out of 5 stars An engrossing read., 13 Oct. 2014
This review is from: On Parson's Creek (Kindle Edition)
An engrossing read from start to finish, the story has suspense, mystery, old half-told tales, recognisable 'facts' and interspersed with some teenage angst.
Told in a reminiscing style, with enough descriptive detail to make it easy to envisage the characters and surroundings and become immersed.
Recommended as a good old fashioned yarn!

Writing a story that appears to be from the mind of a muddle headed old person, while keeping it moving along in a disjointed, but sensible, way, is a great demonstration of skill.
This author achieves it with ease.
I enjoyed it.

Another great informative book in the series by Emma Child.
The information is presented enthusiastically in a language kids of all ages will understand easily.
As usual, there are great photos included and some of the facts are not well known, for example, did YOU know that there are more Tigers held in captivity (mostly as PETS) than live in the wild?

5.0 out of 5 stars A great start to a series., 8 Oct. 2014

Although the story may be intended for 7 to 10 year olds, I think it's suitable for children of any age.
It's gripping, fast paced, there's magic, elves, a wicked wizard and more.
I'm glad it's the first of a series and I'm looking forward to reading more about 'Aggie' and her adventures.

For some reason Hootsuite keep telling me there's a problem when I try to create a user account!
I downloaded it to my Kindle Fire HD Tablet as a recommended alternative to TweetDeck.

4.0 out of 5 stars Eleven nice landscape pictures., 6 Oct. 2014

There are actually eleven (11) landscape pages to this book - not one (1) as per the product description.
Each page has a starry picture and a short thought from a cat to a star.
A nice little bedtime book for young children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original, clever and fun!, 5 Oct. 2014

This is a very clever story, as well as a fun read.
A 25th century Interstellar / Interspecies School with students, bullies, teachers and even a Robot School Principal to match.
The main character, Glort invents something every schoolkid would love to have (or would they?), but then the unexpected turns up!
Full marks for originality J. Smith!
