A Nostalgic Trip Back, 27 Aug 2010
I first bought this book back in 1973 when I was 16. I felt fantastic and people remarked on how great I looked. I liked the fact it was older women demonstrating the poses and thought that if they can do it then surely I can. It was a book I dipped into over the years but with long breaks in-between. On one of these long breaks I threw it out as the spine had gone and the pages were falling out. I recently regretted throwing it away and was amazed that i could still get it through Amazon. I ordered the hard back version this time. It was like catching up with an old friend. I am doing yoga from this book avidly every day and feel great. Although it may seem dated, lets be honest yoga itself is isn't it ?
I would say this is a book for beginners. There is alot of emphasis on breathing, which I think is very crucial to health and well being. There is no 'Salute to The Sun' but there is the Cobra, Bridge, Plough, Bow, Head Stand, Lotus, Relaxation etc. and if you do the stretches and limbering yoga excercises you will feel much more supple and feel able to progress to more advanced yoga.
Thank you Amazon for still providing my dip into nostalgia.
