A gentle, funny film from a time when special effects and violence were not required to entertain us. Watch for early signs of 'Dad's' Army!

As good as it gets. Two friends having musical fun. Look out for 'Stomping at the Savoy'. It's a GAS. A rehersal track that was so good that Norman Grantz
said that we will use it on the LP.

5.0 out of 5 stars MJQ Jazz Masters., 15 Sep 2010
Ever since the MJQ was formed, from jazz men of the Be-Bop days of the late 1940's, early 1950's they have kept to their own unique style of music.
A lot of their music is constructed in classical style, mostly J S Bach. Examples are 'Blues on Bach' and 'Fontessa'
This CD is a superb collection of MJQ music. The musicians are no longer with us, but their music is ageless.

Difficult to review a record (yes, record) made in the late 1950's. The fact that these Gentlemen were at the height of their abilities makes this disc an absolute must for anyone who still 'digs' this type of jazz. Also, of cause, being a CD,
the reproduction is superb. I've seen all of these 'cats' live, and its like reliving these concerts. (or 'gigs' if you like!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Ella. Soft, smooth and warm., 24 Mar 2009

I have a large, comprehensive collection of Ella Fitzgerald LP records.
Over the years, his LP has had the most play time of all, so I was delighted to find that this record had been re-mastered onto a CD,
and available from Amazon.
The choice of songs, some dating from the 1920's and Frank DeVol's orchestra with jazz men like Harry Edison,Ben Webster, Milt Bernhart, Barney Kessel, make this a 'classical' record. Pure magic.

George, the quiet Beatle as he has been called. This DVD showcases the work of a brillient musican by his friends and Son. It is an emotional trip. Put together by Eric Clapton, the concert has the atmosphere of group George's mates enjoying a fun evening, which we, the audience are
privelived to watch. Recommended for the pure musicallity of the event as well as the excellent visual production.
