5.0 out of 5 stars WICK TRIMMER, 17 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Yankee Candle Wick Trimmer
I was pleasantly surprised when I recieved this item, it feels weighty and well made, and considering the reasonable price I'd paid. It's very good value for money. This is an essential item to keep the wicks properly trimmed so I'm told. And the design of this makes the job easy. Especially as the candle burns lower into the jar, nothing else will adequately do the job.

4.0 out of 5 stars SWEET ROMANCE, 17 Feb. 2015
When Meg Telford's husband Joe is killed in the war, she's struggling to keep their ranch going. Joe's family are pressuring her to sell. But Meg has no intention of spending the rest of her days living with Joe's mother. She has to find a solution, then she meets in town returning bad boy Tye Hatcher he's home from the war, but he's not welcomed by the town, he's the son of a prostitute and has been despised for that his whole life. When Meg puts a proposition to him that he marry her to save her ranch he's taken aback. He'd always liked Meg, she had never treated him badly, but he knows he's not good enough for her.
A lovely story between two people that at first look are poles apart in their outlook. But Tye is keen to prove to Meg that he can be the man she needs. But there's always the fact that Meg was married to Joe, it was Joe that Meg loved, it was Joe's dream to build up the ranch. Tye wonders if Meg will ever feel anything for him. He's got a surprise in store for Meg as well, one that might drive them apart forever.
This is a sweet romance that draws you in from the first page.

4.0 out of 5 stars ENJOYABLE, 16 Feb. 2015
This is the second book I've read by this author, this story is set in 1850, Maeve Murphy and her two sisters have just buried their father having lost their mother some time before. The landowner wants them off the land and the cottage where they live. Set at a time in history during the Irish famine the three girls decide to sell whatever possessions they have and buy passage to America, they had found a letter and deeds to a cottage just outside Boston, that a past love interest had left their mother, after he had moved to America many years previously
While waiting to board the ship a small boy is badly injured, Maeve immediately comes forward to help the child, back home she was the villager's go to person if you were ill or hurt. When the ships doctor arrives he's so impressed with her treatment of the boy, he offers her a job as his assistant on the voyage. Dr. Flynn Gallagher is a widower and unlike Maeve and her sisters he's from a very wealthy family. He offers to find jobs onboard ship for Maeve's sisters as well. It very soon becomes apparent that the single women on the ship soon see Flynn as husband material. Maeve feels positively dowdy next to the other women, but Flynn seems more drawn towards her, than the others vying for his attention.
The whole story is set onboard a ship travelling from Ireland to America. While the author had obviously done her research as to what life onboard a ship in 1850 was like, it did seem like an idealistic view, I'm sure conditions were much worse than are portrayed here. The characters are very engaging and easy to relate to as well. I would have liked a bit more chemistry between Maeve and Flynn. There is a slight religious tone to the story but it fitted in with the characters personalities and backgrounds. Overall this story was charming.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT, 15 Feb. 2015
I've not read this author before but I was drawn to read this by the blurb. I can honestly say that for me this was a great read. It has all the essential elements that make a romantic read IMO. A down on her luck heroine, a hero who is badly scarred and closed off to everyone.
Katherine had married Levi Cutter after a whirlwind romance, she fell pregnant very quickly. Levi left Katherine in town while he went off with a promise to return for her once he'd estsblished a home for her and their child. But 5 months go by and no word from Levi. When a stranger turns up claiming to be Levi's brother, informing Katherine that Levi is dead, she's left with little choice except to leave with Noah and return home with him to his ranch.
I loved the story and the characters in this, it's one of those books you don't want to end. Noah was a conflicted character having been badly scarred at a very young age, he'd always been in the shadow of his younger brother Levi who was handsome and charming. What I loved most was how having Katherine come into his life gradually turned his whole perception on how others viewed him. It was lovely reading how Katherine broke through all Noah's barriers.

4.0 out of 5 stars LOVELY FRAGRANCE, 15 Feb. 2015
I bought this fragrance in my local store but in the next size up. While its a lovely fragrance and very true to the smell of fresh strawberries, this is the second candle I've bought by this brand that has had a dodgy wick. I trim it every time and follow all the instructions but as soon as I light it, the head of the wick mushrooms, the upshot is that it smokes. I expect I was just unlucky this time. It certainly won't stop me from buying more. But next time I will be sure to examine any future candles I buy before purchasing.

2.0 out of 5 stars ITS A BIT SLOW, 14 Feb. 2015
I've only read one other book in this series The Viscount and The Virgin which I really enjoyed. This story I didn't like quite so much, it was very difficult to get into as it was rather slow to get to the point. The underlying plot to all the books in this series is about a murder and was the right man hanged. The murdered man's son is trying to take his vengance out on the other two families involved. Nate Wardell is the hero in this story, it was his father who was hanged for the murder causing his mother, sisters and himself to lose their position in society. Nate is a professional gambler, by sheer chance he comes into contact with Diana Price who is a paid companion to two young ladies. Diana does not know Nate's true identity because if she did she would shun him. As he ruined her father.
I wasn't too keen on the characters in this story. They were either idiots or just plain irritating. Plus the plot moved along at a snails pace.

4.0 out of 5 stars ENJOYABLE PERIOD ROMANCE, 13 Feb. 2015
Fifth book in the series featuring Imogen Hebden and Viscount Mildenhall. Imogen is in London for a season to find a husband. Her circumstances have drastically altered and without the resources of her aunt and uncle she'd be homeless and without money. Unfortunately Imogen does not possess any of the social graces having been allowed to do her own thing in her late stepfather's home. One of her stepbrothers comes to london and promises to get his friend Monty to introduce Imogen to suitable young men, just so long as they're not at all like the despicable Viscount Mildenhall who has made it very clear what he thinks of her.

This is part of a series of books with an underlying who done it plot. But each book features a different couple, so you could read it as a stand alone IMO. This is a light romantic read with very engaging characters. I really enjoyed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL, 12 Feb. 2015
This is my handcream of choice, it's wonderful. It's a very rich handcream but it's very easily absorbed. The smell is delicious. I especially like to use it at night just before going to bed. If you are older, or have dry skin this is a must. And if you've not tried the shea butter foot cream that is another great product from this brand.

3.0 out of 5 stars ADEQUATE MOISTURISER, 12 Feb. 2015
I bought this for my husband for Christmas. I got it direct from Lab Series, it's quite expensive. It appears cheaper from this seller till you add on the P&P which when added together is roughly the actual cost of this moisturiser.
But does it work? As a moisturiser it works very well hydrating the skin, but anti aging, I can't say that my husband has noticed any visible difference in that way.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT KIT, 11 Feb. 2015
I have ordered this kit as its at a super bargain price from this seller. I already purchased it from the well known shopping channel you know the one that promises quality value and convenience but I paid twice as much for it from them.
It's a great kit to own there's a choice of colours to use. If you already have any glitter polishes the sponges are great to dab on glitter for a different look. If you've not tried Leighton Denny before this is a good way to test out his polishes
