Very good, 5 Aug 2012
Bought as a replacement for an aging Navman (that I never liked), this is super SatNav. We've just used it to navigate around europe this summer and found the map data to be excellent in the main. We noticed a handful of omissions, but there is always a lag between roadworks and updates. We part of convoy of three cars and the only one with a SatNav, the others had iPhone and Android map applications, and it was the SatNav that everyone appreciated at the end of the day (bigger screen, no connectivity issues, etc).
+ bright, easy to read screen.
+ navigation functionality is very good.
+ lifetime updates.
+ screenshots of some juntions.
+ maps for walking around towns and cities.
+ traffic alerts provide alternative routes with time impact estimates.
+ favorites can be added by address or multiple GPS co-ordinate formats.
+ synch software works fine on Windows 7 x64.
+ lots of customization options that the kids love.
- lifetime updates supported by small ads over location of advertizer. Good if you want to find McDonalds say, but not if you never eat there.
- accompanying documentation could be better.
- device appears to be designed for left hand drive cars so cabling is slightly awkward.
- not very impressed with complimentary Garmin software - Basecamp (painfully slow and hard to use), google map plugin (relies on partially working web service).
Most of the cons are around peripheral matters. This is the best SatNav device I've owned.
