5.0 out of 5 stars Get This Film- A disaster movie with conscience, 13 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is one of cinema's unsung classics. So far ahead of it's time and yet still very relevant today. An early disaster movie with conscience. Even back in 1961 the issues of planetary destruction by our actions were well established. The acting is faultless, the writing and screenplay punchy, ruthless and imaginative. Cinematography haunting and memorable, especially the abandoned streets of London or the desperate rioting for water. Even a film to do some future star spotting like an uncredited Michael Cain. This is a must for true movie lovers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Harryhausen Animation Guru, 13 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
One of Harryhausen's less known films. More low key monster types, giant crab, bee and chicken. The balloon, ship and squid are good. Although he does a sterling job Herbert Lom is miscast as Nemo never matching James Mason's screen stature. The film is nevertheless a good adventure romp based on the Jules Verne novel.

Ha! This is the first Christopher Lee - Dracula film I ever saw. Dated, corny hammed up and I LOVE IT! Loved Lee ever since and loved the genre too. A film for the nostalgic.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Works, 13 May 2012

Ok this is six socket extension lead. Great for behind the cabinet with all that electronic equipment. The great thing about this beauty is the price. The high street, Tesco and DIY stores will charge you double or treble for a similar item, often without the surge protection. A good internet bargain. Was surprised at the size of box it came in and the large bubble wrap. They came in handy too.

Got this because of Sellers. It's an odd animal, enjoyable but misses the mark somewhat. Victor Mature isn't so much as miss cast as cast adrift. He is totally confused as the Confused Movie Star that it's sometimes painful to watch. You can see Sellers developing the style which would all come together later with Blake Edwards and the Pink Panther movies. This is a curio for completing your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars The One That Started It All, 13 May 2012
This review is from: Black Sabbath (Audio CD)
This is an album that ALL should know and need no introduction. The birth of Heavy Metal (still called Heavy Rock at the time). From the first bell toll of the albums title track you know you're listening to something special, even today. Then the Wizard sneaks up and grabs you. You get hit over the head with NIB and you rock along singing to Evil Woman, Don't Play Your Games With Me. Great for a ring tone BTW! The more experimental Behind the wall of sleep, Sleeping village, Warning, and Tomorrows Dream have that deep early charm of discovery of what electric, percussive armament was about to give birth to. If you claim to be any sort of lover of rock or metal this album should be in your collection and top of the playlist if not you're a fraud!

5.0 out of 5 stars Steam Punk and how, 13 May 2012

This review is from: Etherscope (Paperback)
I was looking to run a Steam Punk game and needed some direction and ideas of how deep to immerse the players into the system. This book has provided me with an exceptional amount of background ideas and methods of running such a system. From looking for a place to start, with this handbook, I'm creating an ever deeper, richer more complex environment and system. Brilliant. A lot of thought and work has gone into this volume, and a lot of lateral thinking.

If you remember the British Airways adverts with fondness then this album will not disappoint you. A modern twist to classical music with a view to melody, tone and relaxation. Great to just lounge to with this playing in the background. For those who are not full on classical aficionados then this will be a gentle introduction to what music can do. From here you can move to Carl Orff and the Carmina Burana or Holst's the Planets Suite.

3.0 out of 5 stars An Odd Third Part, 13 May 2012
This review is from: Spy Kids 3 [DVD] (DVD)
Enjoyable, watched it with the kids, Stalone is so out of his usual genre that it's fun to watch him. The film works on a simple level and the game exploration via 3d is ok. If the kids liked the first two then the departure from realism into a computer graphics world won't bother them.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Comeback Album, 13 May 2012

This is the first studio album after the Winterland Shows which were declared everywhere as 'The last One'. Great evocative pieces throughout. An album you can let play in the background or sit and contemplate over. The band went into the studio deliberately with nothing in order to attempt to get the whole group cohesion into their writing as they did with their playing on stage. This they managed with great success.
One thing I personally don't like about this or any other album with extras on it is that they are tacked onto the end of the original thereby destroying the much loved original. I have always preferred extras to be added on a separate disk as this keeps the integrity of the original and hardly costs any extra.
A final note, this is a digi pack, ie card sleeve and so will deteriorate quickly and does not fit many cd racks. I wish companies would not opt for this money scrimping option. I personally hate it. Sellers should make effort to tell buyers of the type of packaging. I would have refrained from buying this; now I am more distrustful of Amazon as a seller.
