4.0 out of 5 stars Essential, 11 May 2014

Essential Maiden. However, after all the years I waited for this to be released - I am disappointed by the video quality! However, it is over 25 years old so can't complain to much. 5 stars for the set list and performance, -1 star for the video quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Boot, 11 May 2014

Needed a boot which would help me survive a 3-peaks in a day challenge (well over 25 miles) without succumbing to blisters. Gladly these did the job.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2nd best PS3 game ever, 11 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Purchased on release day and not stopped playing it, simply fantastic. Best GTA game by a mile, I have never finished a GTA and always got bored playing them until this one. If it wasn't for The Last of Us, this game would have been the best of a generation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Rock Album of 2014, 11 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Best Rock album I have heard in a long time and probably the best tribute album ever. The album simply reminds you how good the songs RJD gave us are. Metallica give us some of thier best studio work in well over 10 years, although probably helped by the Rainbow classics they perform!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not gripping enough, 11 May 2014

Simply the film lacks intensity. This can be contributed most probably to the fact it is not a true story and therefore fails to fully engage you or care for the characters. The first 45 minutes of the film develops the characters brilliantly, however with it's use of voice overs you can't help but draw comparatives to similar movies mainly Scorsese's Trilogy of greed (Goodfellas, Casino and less notably Wolf of Wall Street). The film is nowhere near the level of Scorsese's movies, which isn't a bad thing (I mean what film is?), the problem is it tries to play in the same league when it is nowhere near. The overall story is weak, it takes well over 2 hours to tell the ficticous tale which is a fairly paint by numbers affair. There are no twists and turns here and everything is quite predictable - which is a shame considering the film title.

One positive from the film is DeNiro making an appearance half way through, I feel his character was ridiculously underused. His character could have brought more threat to the plot which was sorely lacking.

I feel the film has most likely won over critics and attained much kudos for the cast - who are excellent. Bale and co take what would have been a budget bargain bucket release and turn it into something more credible. All performances across the board are superb.

Unsurpisingly you are reminded of previous films by the same director, particularly the Fighter - and again as was the case with that film what you are watching is a tour de force in acting and performance - but this doesn't completely save what is a forgettable movie.

The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty [Blu-ray]
The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty [Blu-ray]

2.0 out of 5 stars Half good/Half bad, 4 Mar 2014
I'm not sure who this film is aimed at to be quite honest as it passes through so many genres and tastes. The film is quite clearly cut in two with the second half being easily the more enjoyable. The first half of the film suffers from mis-judged and mis-placed comedy. I understand the idea that Mr Mitty has vivid daydreams which as we all know can be as over the top as our own imaginations would allow - there is really no ceiling. The problem is the film uses Ben Stillers typical childish comedy talents as seen in his prior movies for his daydreams. I like Ben Stiller comedys in the right context but it is used all wrong here. The opening/character introductions/story set up (which lasts for half the film duration it seems) is all very slow paced and the drama within the scenes is suddenly eroded by the ridiculous comedy sequences when Stiller decides to daydream. It's like watching a bad comedy/happy version of Nightmare on Elm Street. These daydreams only last half the film, presumably as Mr Mittys life slowly becomes more interesting he has no need to daydream. Not only does Walter Mittys life become more interesting as does the remainder of the film. The second half of the movie has some wonderful scenery and great moments, it is like watching a completely different film. If the film had kept the tone set in the latter half from the start then I would be more inclined to offer up a 3 star review. As it stands if you really want to watch this film you won't miss anything if you fast forward through the opening 45 minutes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best PS4 launch game, 8 Dec 2013
I have previously tried to play Assassins Creed 2 & 3 but found both of those games to be slightly boring and too self indulgent. However, black flag is simply brilliant, i still don't understand why we need the "animus" side of things, the game could have stood apart from the assassins creed series and just been a brilliant pirate game.

The only reason i picked up this game is due to the poor selection of launch titles, so glad i picked this. Easily the best launch title. The frame rate and graphics obviously have been given a much need kick up the ass and this game runs beautifully on the PS4. Easy to play great controls and fun. Much more fun than the tediously dull Killzone and glitch free unlike BF4 the other launch game i have tried so far.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best of the five, 8 April 2013
Easily the best in the series so far which is quite an achievement considering this is film number 5!! You don't have to have watched any of the other movies as this stands alone as a solid heist movie. Excellent action, good characters and story. Wouldn't say I was a fan of the series before I watched this, but definitely looking forward now to numbers 6 and 7!

2.0 out of 5 stars Worst item I have ever bought from Amazon, 3 Jan 2011
This only gets two stars because it is cheap and kind of half does it's job. It is a rubbish product. The two covers you get do fit quite nicely around your ipod but the bottom of the ipod where your charger would go is not really protected at all, it is very flimsy. The covers however are brilliant compared to the stupid screen protector which comes bundled with them, which is TOO BIG!! It is too long and overlaps at either end. You get what you pay for... a rubbish product.

3.0 out of 5 stars First thoughts: Not fun, very disappointing graphics, 24 Nov 2010
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) (Video Game)
Massive let down of a game. 5 years to make this. Loved the series ever since the first one in '98. First track I excitedly wanted to try was the snow tracks in bad weather, major let down the graphics are surprisingly poor, the rally cars just seemed to float around also. The London track I tried next and it was remarkably accurate and suddenly I was excited again and the view from inside the car is exceptional (the best way to play this game I feel). Then however came the replay, once amajor selling point for the series, it was very poor as there is alot of glitches in the graphics, shadows for example on the track and on the car are blocky and screen tear is sometimes an issue. On to a new much anticipated selling point... Damage modelling... what damage modelling? A slight dent here and there.

Original GT tracks are the same as GT4 but all they have done is made the graphics HD, they don't look any better than that and I feel it is these tracks that let the game down the most, apart from the tracks where they have introduced changing weather. The weather effects are very good, the sound of the rain bouncing off the car and the water on the track is very immersive.

Onto the main GT mode. First thing I noticed much to my disappointment was that the intitial Licences challenges and beginners cups are pretty much identical to the previous version, nothing new. Although they are brilliant way of introducing the game to you, for the die hard fans I feel you can't help but get more than a little annoyed with the feeling of Deja Vu.

The cars do look amazing, but I think they spent too long ensuring they had a thousand good looking cars in the game that it feels like they forgot to update everything else. The only difference between this and GT4 really is incredible looking cars and slightly more polished looking tracks which annoyingly do contan some truly unacceptable graphical glitches. If you just want your cars to look amazing and as real as possible (despite the sound of them being rubbish on some models) and you want your games truly realistic then try it - however I wanted just that as well and have been let down by the fact the game just hasn't progressed much at all. To sum up this is a great racing game for newcomers you will not be disappointed, but for fans who have suffered delay after delay thinking we were all going to get something truly remarkable... this is just a glossy GT4.
