5.0 out of 5 stars Great - but packaging aimed at women, 10 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this item intending to give it to a man, but when it came, the packaging was covered in photos of (white)women, and the accompanying blurb talked a lot about bingo wings and made it clear it was intended for women. This is a shame, because it's obvious when you remove the packaging that the product would be suitable for either gender. It is bigger, and a bit heavier than it looks, but all the better for it - it should be good fun to use. Just a shame the packaging didn't reflect the diversity of customers who could use it.
I'll be giving this item to a female friend instead, because it feels a bit weird to give a man an item where the packaging is for women.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't even bother, 18 May 2013

I love Diana Palmer books and usually wait eagerly for new ones, but this was tragically bad. Very unconvincing characters in a weak and very tedious plot. Don't even bother, it's not worth wasting your time.

2.0 out of 5 stars What a let down, 27 Dec 2011
I've been a fan of Dick Francis for years. His plots are always intriguing, and the lead character is always compelling. Not so with this book. The lead character takes a patronising view of the women he purports to love, and his internal monologue reveals him to be self centred and insecure. Quite honestly, I didn't care in the least when the villains tried to finish him off in a risible denoument utterly lacking in tension - for the sake of the women in his life, I almost wished they would. There is a crass subplot about cancer, and the whole book is written in a clunky style with an occasionally hectoring tone. The entire book plods along like an old nag, and could do with some serious loving care from a good editor. Really disappointed in a book I really wanted to like.

This review is from: The Beaver [DVD] (DVD)
A wonderful film with fab acting, smart directing and a gripping story.

It's a deeply quirky tale, at once poignant and funny. Both my (male) partner and I gave it 10/10, which is highly unusual. Would recommend it if you're looking for a film to suit both men and women.

And by the way, there's an extremely unexpected twist at the end - bet you can't guess what happens!

Definitely one to buy, keep and watch over again :)

I love books that focus on the development of really interesting characters, so this book was perfect for me. The book also has a gripping plot and a very satisfying romance. Recommended!
