4.0 out of 5 stars Drives the squirrels nuts!!, 24 Jan. 2015
At last I think I may have found a squirrel proof feeder that actually works....well almost.
The first few days had the squirrels baffled but unfortunately it didn't take them long to work out how to get to the nuts.
I watched in amazement as one squirrel twisted the lid and lifted it off helping himself to the nuts inside.
I have now had to tie the lid down and so far so good although still early days.
Well built and one of the better looking bird feeders out there.

4.0 out of 5 stars At last!!, 24 Aug. 2011
At last, a bird feeder that keeps squirrels away.
I have tried a variety of feeders in the past but no joy.........until now that is.
I was having such a running battle with the squirrels trying to stop them "pinching" the bird food that it was actually spoiling the enjoyment of viewing the wide variety of birds that were attracted to the garden.
Buying more and more bird seed or replacing damaged feeders every so often was proving expensive so i decided to buy this particular squirrel proof feeder and whilst not the cheapest it is certainly the best and has proved money well spent.
After a few initial attempts at "breaking in" the squirrels gave up and now don't even bother....result!
The only problem i find is if a mixed seed is offered then the likes of a greenfinch, which i have many, will throw other seeds away to get to the sunflower seeds resulting in the floor below covered in seed which could attract vermin.
My handmade solution is to attatch a plastic bowl directly underneath the feeder to collect unwanted seed, either that or just provide sunflower seed.
For this alone i give 4 stars rather than 5.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lasted a week, 5 Jan. 2011
Bought these as a Xmas present for my son, one week later they don't work.
Whilst they lasted the sound was 'ok' at best although my son was pleased with them.
He is now using my old pair of original apple earbuds that not only sound better but are a damn sight more durable.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favourite, 8 Aug. 2010
When on holiday i am the type to go in the duty free shops trying out all the testers and every time Davidoff Adventure comes out tops.
Long lasting, not too overpowering and with a real fresh, classy smell to it that can be worn day or night.
In my opinion Adventure is the best of the Davidoff range, the wife loves it too which has it's plus points!!
This set includes aftershave balm and shower gel that smell just as lovely and last a long time as you don't need to use a great deal at any one time.

Koss Porta Pro On-Ear Headphones Classic, for iPod, iPhone, MP3 and Smartphone - Black/Silver
Price: £29.88

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, 7 Aug. 2010
Just returned from a relaxing cruising holiday and was so impressed with these headphones i felt i had to let someone know.
Sound quality is superb and they are so comfortable that you can wear them for hours without any discomfort at all.
They fold away neatly and can be placed in a nice little pouch which makes them ideal for travelling.
The design may be stuck in the 80's but luckily so is the price and sound quality is a match for any of the latest, more expensive headphones making these a real bargain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blu-ray or Dvd?, 28 Jan. 2010
After reading numerous reviews comparing the difference in quality between the standard dvd and blu-ray versions i thought i would do a quick test of my own.
I played each version on my Panasonic DMP-BD60 player and i have to admit i found the difference in picture quality between the two to be minimal.
As has been mentioned, the grain effect is very much part of the film and unless you are a first time buyer i would stick with the standard dvd version if you already own that.
Having said that the current price on Amazon must be tempting all the same and it really is a bargain.
As for Band of Brothers, it goes without saying that it is well worthy of it's 5 stars no matter what version you have.

4.0 out of 5 stars Magnifico, 11 Mar. 2009
This review is from: No Line On The Horizon (Audio CD)
This is a typical U2 album really, a mixture of some blinding tracks and a few distinctly average thrown in for good measure.

Certainly not as experimental as some would have you believe and in some ways quite similar in style to their last offering some four years previous 'HTDAAB' albeit a bit more 'in your face'.

Highlights include lead single 'Get on your boots', which has a 'Discotheque' feel about it and Elvis Costello's 'Pump it up' is also a fair comparison, it is a song that gets your attention right away and screams that U2 are back.

'Stand up comedy' carries on in similar vein and if you liked their recent collaboration with Green Day you will love this too.

'Magnificent' is just that....magnificent,this must rank as one of the best songs they have written for many a year and would not look out of place on the classics like The Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby.

'Moment of surrender' is A.T.Y.C.L.B's 'Stuck in a moment' and H.T.D.A.A.B's 'Sometimes you can't make it on your own'.

'Breathe' is a breathe of fresh air sandwiched between the rather dull 'White as snow' and 'Cedars of Lebanon' and challanges Magnificent for top dog.

U2 had 60 songs to choose from apparently and it's a pity they couldn't have found better than 'Fez' and the aforementioned 'White as snow' and 'Cedars of Lebanon' amonst them because this isn't that far off from being another 'classic' U2 album instead of just another 'good' one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Suprise, 26 Nov. 2008
This review is from: Prospekt's March (Audio CD)
After being treated to the brilliant Viva La Vida, clearly the best album of the year, up pops this little beauty, and what a lovely suprise it is.

Depending on what you read this ep contains tracks that either didn't make it onto the VLV album or were written not long after.

Whereas the likes of Keane, The Killers, Razorlight and Snow Patrol to name but a few have not kicked on this year after early promise, Coldplay have gone from strength to strenght and any of these new tracks could and in some cases should have made it onto VLV's track listing.

Vocally and lyrically Chris Martin is much improved and with Brian Eno on board Coldplay really have turned things up another notch.

I loved the instrumental 'Life in technicolor' and often wondered how it would sound with a vocal and now i know because mark ii is quiet possibly their best song yet and what a pity it didn't find its way onto the album.
If nothing else it is worth buying this ep just for this version alone.

Other tracks that will be familiar are remixed versions of 'Lovers in Japan' and 'Lost' complete with a Jay-Z rap in the middle that doesn't work for me and spoils an otherwise brilliant song if i am honest.

'Glass of water' and the funky 'Rainy day' are brilliant tracks, as good as anything they have done before and if either had appeared on Viva La Vida inplace of the disappointing 'Yes' then the album would surely be hailed as a masterpiece, as good as anything out there.

The remaing tracks are 'Postcards from far away' a fifty seconds snipet of Chris on the piano, whilst 'Prospekt's march/Poppyfields' and 'Now my feet won't touch the ground' sound very much early Coldplay and would fit nicely on debut album Parachutes.

This is a must for all Coldplay fans, especially if you liked Viva La Vida.

3.0 out of 5 stars A GROWER, 26 Nov. 2008
This review is from: Day & Age (Audio CD)
A change in direction here from The Killers and those expecting another Hot Fuss or Sam's Town may well be slightly disappointed.
Much like Keane's Perfect Symmetry it does have an 80's pop feel to it.
'Joyride' could be Duran Duran, 'Losing touch' Roxy Music and 'I can't stay' is not too disimilar to George Michael's Faith.
Stand out tracks that sound like The Killers of old are 'A dustland fairytale', 'This is your life' and 'Spaceman'.
'Human' is a tune that Chris Martin calls the perfect pop tune and even my young daughter likes it which i don't know if that is a good thing or not?
Apart from Kings of Leon's Only by the night there hasn't been one cd this year that has stood out as an improvement on any previous material and Day and Age is no different.
Certainly no Mr Brightsides, Smile like you mean it, Somebody told me found here but give it time,it is a grower.
