2.0 out of 5 stars Not what you expect from a Final Fantasy game, 14 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Lightning Returns is a disappointment to Final Fantasy fans - if you enjoyed previous games in the series for their RPG elements, storytelling or graphics, this game won't live up to your expectations. As others have stated, playing this makes you feel uncomfortably rushed. The game is based on the premise that you will not be able to experience all of it (in a single playthrough at least) and the difficulty curve is unreasonable.

This game is not for anyone who enjoys exploring a world and taking in everything it has to offer - that will only lead to a premature game over.

This review is from: Portal 2 (PC/Mac DVD) (DVD-ROM)
Despite its good reviews, I was still a little skeptical as to whether this would be able to follow Portal, but it has been done well; a longer, darker follow up to the original, it keeps in canon and carries on the hilarious dialogue without over-using things which were a great success from the last game, which could have killed the jokes. Although not essential, as you will be re-taught how to play, playing Portal first does help as you'll be able to recognise a few things early on in the game and you'll understand the references made throughout.

Co-op mode was, again, well-executed, requiring both parties to solve their own parts of puzzles and co-ordinate with each other in order to complete tests. The amusing dialogue seeps through from single player to create competition between you and your partner.

I'll often pass on buying games which look good in order to save the money but this is a purchase I don't regret. A fine follow-up to the legendary Portal. I suggest you buy it!
