Fashioning Fashion: European Dress in Detail, 1700-1915
by Sharon Sadako Takeda
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £25.20

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect book ! Beautifully illustrated fashion book , book worth every penny. Recommended, 19 April 2014
I have several fashion historical books but this book is one of my best buy ever. Absolutely gorgeous book, beautifully illustrated with hundreds of large photos and comprehensively written. A ' must have ' book for any serious fashion student or fashion entusiast. A small down side is that the book is quite heavy and massive but it is intended to be also a lovely coffee table book as well as a very informative book. It is a nice book to display too and to read of course. This book is definitely good value for money !

Shoes and Slippers (Fashion & Style)

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting small little book with beautiful colour photos, 6 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Interesting small little book with beautiful full colour photos and brief descriptions from a nice English collection, the C. P. Wade Snowhill collection. I wish the book was in a larger size and more detailed than this little book. Antique 1700s shoes is such a fascinating subject for antique textile collectors like me but still there aren`t enough books exclusively on 1700s shoes .. Instead there are some references of these types of shoes in more general antique clothing books .. Certainly, I would recommend this little book if you are interested in 1700s shoes.

European Laces: An Introduction
European Laces: An Introduction

2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting booklet with only small black & white photos, disappointing.., 24 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It is a small booklet fully illustrated with only black & white photos, the writing is simple with reference of historical pieces and styles , well explained by the author probably this is the only thing noticeable about this little book. If you are interested in antique lace and you want a simple and quick book to read in 10-15 minutes then this booklet is for you. It seems almost impossible to find a proper book on the subjet with colour photos or proper illustrations. Many antique or early laces are also ivory, creme or even beige from age and a colourful background is preferable to give a full picture and help in dating the piece. This tiny book in my opinion is a bit pricely for just 48 pages in total, disappointing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fast shipping but this edging shears are definitely too heavy to lift. No light weight at all !, 17 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Quality Edging Shears (Misc.)
I have purchased this shears because we need to cut a bit of green and grass here and there in our garden, because the grass is now considerably high I purchased this long type of shears for praticity. This product was advertised to be 'light weight' but it is not. This item arrived quickly but with my surprise, the shears are too heavy even to lift for me ! .. so no way I will be use the shears in the garden. I would not recommend this shears for a lady unless you are all muscles. Wrong buy and money wasted.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice interesting Book ! but the BOOK COVER was different from the one advertised !, 13 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I purchased this book 3 weeks ago and during this time this book was advertised with a completely different book cover ! The book advertised in photo on Amazon was with a museum mannequin and antique blue dress. Not as the one received !

I think the 'real book cover', NOW visible on Amazon of this book is awful and poorly chosen, as you can see .. modern post Art deco ladies from the 30s ? for a book only about 18th Century fashion clothes and 19th century clothes but I have to say that the contents of the book are extremely interesting, beautiful colour photos and clear illustrations and very well written.

I would recommend this book after all, if you like me are in love with the 18th Century Fashion and clothes ! Absolutely ok for the beautiful photos and contents but not certainly for the book cover.

3.0 out of 5 stars This portable Knitting machine is useful and so easy to use !, 12 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Prym Knittingmill Maxi
This relatively small and easy to carry knitting machine is ok for your knitting small projets. This machine makes hats and scarfs in 15 to 30 minutes but If you are looking to knit a pullover or something more complex then better a professional knitting machine. I`ve made a scarf in no time with the Prym Knittingmill ! I`ve used the knitting machine with wool or acrylic. Also occasionally while in use makes some odd noise ! for the internal plastic mechanism. I`ve purchased also a professional vintage Brother knitting machine recently but professional knitting machines are extremely heavy, bulky, difficult if not impossible to move around the house plus you have to allow enough space in the house for the machine, not that easy to set up a professional knitting machine either. With the Prym Knttingmill instead you can just place it on a table and in 2-3 minutes you will start working on your new knitting projet. It takes only a few minutes to set up but once that is done its very easy to use. I would recommend this product.
