5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Starter Package, 1 Nov 2011
The Guitar -

When I bought my first electric guitar about 30 years ago "budget" guitars coming in at under 100 were terrible - plywood bodies, terrible action, tuners that wouldn't stay in tune and poor pick-ups. Thirty years on these Squire Affinitys are actually quite good - they are made of proper wood, stay in tune, are playable and sound quite nice. In real terms (taking inflation into account) price has plummeted and quality has soared.

Hardware wise - they are the strat type SSS 3 single-coil pick-up/5 way selector combination. There is one volume, a tone control for the neck pick-up and a tone for the middle pick-up - there is no tone for the bridge pick-up. Compared to a real Fender Strat the pick-ups are somewhat anaemic but still perfectly adequate. The vibrato bridge is a weakness and many Squire owners choose to ignore it and treat it as a fixed bridge. Tuners work fine and stay in tune.

Generally great for the money and an excellent first guitar - I wish they'd been around when I started. It is very palyable, sounds good and is by no means just a beginners instrument as these are actually very usable working instruments which should give good service for many years.

The Amp -

This Fender Frontman practice amp is a little star - features are - switchable clean and gain channels, headphone out and line in (for accompaniment). The tone of this amp is real Fender with clean, glassy highs and deep warm lows on the clean channel whereas the gain channel allows you to dial in anything from mild blues break-up to over-the-top rock and all points in between although its distortion has a definite Fender character and may not be perfect for Marshall fans. Both channels deliver plenty of volume with loads of bass - it's surprisingly loud, so much so that you'll struggle to use its full power in the house and it could be used for intimate gigs as long as it's not competing with too much. The only thing this amp really lacks is reverb (Fender do make an otherwise identical one, the Frontman 15R, that has it).

Altogether an excellent starter package - highly recommended.

Ultimate Avengers [DVD]
Ultimate Avengers [DVD]

Price: 4.00

2.0 out of 5 stars Fairly Low Grade Stuff, 31 Oct 2011

Compared to some other other superhero animations such as Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the excellent Justice League Unlimited this offering is childish, poorly scripted and poorly animated. Definitely one for the kids.

4.0 out of 5 stars No problems - good product, 19 Oct 2011

I have been using Servisol products for many years and have great confidence in them - this item is the cheapest I could find, is as described and was well packed - the postage included in the price was second class which is fine for me because I wasn't in a hurry. I've used it to lubricate the laser guide rail on my favourite old CD player which was skipping and it now seems to be good as new - not a bad result for an investment of four pounds and twenty pence. Would shop with this seller again.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ghost In The Machine, 18 Oct 2011
After the TV series had finished came this gem of a film which tells the story from the Cylon perspective and provides us with genuine new insight into what makes the machines tick. Portraying incidents we're already familiar with from a completely different angle is a very clever idea and a real eye opener. By the end of the film I found myself understanding the frequently schizophrenic and occasionally genocidal Cylons to the point of feeling some sympathy for them. Finally, the film's closing moments followed by the haunting song "Apocalypse" are nothing short of beautiful and I'm left pondering how much irony was intended in this movie's title.

3.0 out of 5 stars Backgound & Filler, 18 Oct 2011
On the plus side this full length feature adds some welcome backgound, most notably relating to Pegasus and her crew. On the down side the main plot which develops following Pegasus' meeting with Galactica is not really attached to the rest of the story arc in any meaningful way and has the feel of a fairly cynical money making exercise filling up a couple of hours of video time. For me the additional background offered makes it worthwhile but the tagged on storyline is unnecessary and quite forgettable in the great scheme of the Battlestar Galactica universe.

4.0 out of 5 stars Do Exactly What They're Supposed To, 18 Oct 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Good value waterproof overtrousers which pack away very neatly into their own very nice quality ventilated drawstring cord lock bag. Covered flaps give access to trouser pockets underneath and the bottoms have pop-studs for a snugger ankle fit if required. I bought the "Large" which fit my 36" waist fine but are only just long enough for my 33" inside leg. They are light and comfortable and waterproofing is great - I've worn them out on beach fishing trips in sustained rainstorms with zero leakage. I'm generally very pleased and recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Pants, 18 Oct 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
After visiting the Craghoppers website for sizing info I opted for the Dark Navy, 36" Long which fit me perfectly (long is 33", regular is 31"). Very well made and very comfortable with lots of handy pockets. Nice adjustable Crag-Hoppers snap-shut belt included. One tiny issue - I have a large, fluffy, orange coloured dog and the material seems to attract his hairs like a magnet so next time I may go for a colour other than dark navy but I'm generally delighted with them.

1.30, free postage and packed in about 20 pence worth of bubble envelope - that makes them a much better deal than any of my local retrailers. Quality is fine too. Five stars and I'll certainly buy them again.

*** UPDATE 08-03-14 *** Oh dear. This product had actually dropped to consistently below the 1.30 I had paid but it has now shot right up to 1.75 all of a sudden - quite a large increase - no longer great value 5 stars so I'll be looking elsewhere.
