Mr Taylor has done himself no favours in writing this book. It is laughable and sad at the same time. This book has a lot of photographs , but contary to the claims none of these are "new" or "unpublished".
He makes sweeping asertions that bear no relation to reality. He claims that Hitler was bisexual !!! The evidence none !. I suppose he believes hhitler only had one testicle, Goerings were very small and Goebbels had none at all.
He replies on a Stalin era medical "autopsy" that says Hitler took poison rather than shot himself. Why does Mr. Taylor prefer this Sovier report rather than the other ones that were published at the time that the body was a double and Hitler wss still alive hiding in the Allied Zone. No mention is made of the piece of Hitlers skull held in the Kremlin archives which put paid to the nonsense of the Poison claims.
Look no-one wants to glorify Hitler but really making up such drivel does no good. The blurb compares Eva to Princess Dianna Jackie Kennedy and others. Does he expect us to believe she was that important? He makes claims that she died a virgin, the evidence.....none just tital-tattle from Berghof staff.
A very shabby work. Why the publishers wasted money on such a book beggers belief, perhaps the market for Mr Adolf Hitler titled books is so saturated that they thought they would break out into a new genre.....they have failed at the first post.
Even if you receive this as a gift, as for the life of me I do not see why anyone would buy it themselves, don't waste your time reading it; throw it straight into the bin, its not even fit to go into the recycling bin for pulping. Bin it or burn it and buy another more worthy book from Amazon.
It is often said that if something seems to good to be true then it usually is and this is true of this production.
Three movies on one disk and at this price means something has to give and I'm afraid that its the quality which is a shame.
Like others I was fed up with the constant freezing, jumping and pixelation of the movies throughout the length ofthe disk.
Strange as it may sound save youself money by paying that little bit extra for one of the other productions of Victory of Faith, preferably one on its own which means the movie has not been compressed to squeeze it all on the disk.
This is a must see movie. Long thought to be "lost" it was "rescued" from the Bundesarcive in Koblenz and put onto the general market. This was the prequal to the far more widely known Triumpg of the Will and is unique in that it was banned by both the National Socialist Government and the Allies.
The NS Government banned it due tothe appearance of Ernst Rohm who was no longer in favour with certain elements within the state.
Even has an originsl "blooper" left in where you see Baldur Von Shirach knock Hitlers hat off the podium onto the ground below...not a good career move one would think.
Seroisly though this is an excellant rendition and all the more unique for the addittional features on the DVD namely the never before seen movie trailer for the Die Deutsche Reichstag in Nuremburg, 5 mins and the famous Word and Deed featurette by Fritz Hippler famous for his Directorshiop of the of Eternal Jew movie, 12mins.
This DVD is PAL format Region 0 70 mins long and really does belong on every movie buffs shelf for the filming techniques as well as military/political historians who may already have Triumph of the Will. All we need is a DVD of Tag der Freiheit to make the complete set of movies that Riefenstahl made for the NSDAP.
I am a bit dubious about the history of this translation.
It claims the original came from a PoW camp that opened in 1938 !
As far as I'm aware, and I know they have a great reputation for organisational flair but to have a ready made PoW camp in 1938 complete with English language edition of Mein Kampf seems a little far fetched to be believable.
I still prefer the Murphy edition which has stood the test of time.
DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION. The picture quality is terrible it is copied from a VHS tape so the American English subtitles can not be switched off. The spelling is often wrong, not just US spelling, actually incorrect in any version of English. Subtitle text is white in top of the picture which means it just disappears into the background until a darker part of the movie flashes up. BUY ANOTHER EDITION NOT RECOMMENDED
