The Blackhouse - the first book in the Lewis Trilogy, 13 Dec. 2012
The book is well written and easy to read. The plot is somewhat different from the usual police investigation. It is set in the remote Outer Hebrides on the island of Lewis streching back from the childhood of the principal character, DI MacLeod who originally grew up on the island and now returns in his professional capacity. To accompany the novel plot, there's lots of local relevant historical information and graphical description of the spectacular scenery and weather.
I'd recommend this book to any one who likes an interesting murder mystery. The facinating background of life on Lewis over the last say 40 years is a bonus and gives everything a different flavour.
A good read - I was tempted to give it 5 stars! I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the trilogy.
