5.0 out of 5 stars Love among the chickens in Lyme Regis!, 6 July 2010
'Love Among the Chickens', originally called 'Sunshine and Chickens' was P.G. Wodehouse's first novel for an adult readership. It was first published and reprinted in 1906. Wodehouse revised the book in 1920 and it was republished in 1921. 'Love Among the Chickens' introduces the world to Uckridge Featherstonehaugh (pronounced Yewkridge Fanshawe), one of Wodehouse's most extraordinary characters. Set in Combe Regis which is instantly recognisable as Lyme Regis, it tells the hilarious tale of Uckridge's get-rich-quick scheme of borrowing a few chickens and starting a chicken farm...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Complete Guide to Lyme Regis, 27 Jun. 2010
A really useful guide to Lyme Regis which is easy to use and carry around. A slim, stapled booklet with photographs throughout, a full colour cover and an A to Z directory covering: exploring the town; museums, entertainment, outdoor activities, eating, drinking, shopping, history, people, where to stay, things you might need, further afield and much more.

Sherlock Holmes And The Lyme Regis Horror
Sherlock Holmes And The Lyme Regis Horror
by David Ruffle
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Sherlock Holmes and Lyme Regis - what a combination!, 25 Jun. 2010
In this very well-written book, David Ruffle demonstrates his immense love and knowledge of Sherlock Holmes and Lyme Regis. Ideal reading before, during and after a visit to Lyme Regis.

With only one exception - which I won't mention to avoid revealing an important part of the plot - David Ruffle, like Dan Brown, skillfully combines fact and fiction so that after a few pages you find yourself believing that you are reading an actual account written by a real Dr. Watson.

In addition to the 'Sherlock Holmes and the Lyme Regis Horror' novella, this book also has six shorter offerings - my favourite being 'Timeless in Lyme'. It had me reaching for my copy of 'Lyme Regis Past and Present' by Jo Draper - see my Lyme Regis Books list.
