3.0 out of 5 stars
Great film, bad DVD, 21 April 2006
I have to agree with everything the reviewers before me said regarding the quality of the movie.
However, I was disappointed by the DVD transfer. This film was originally shot widescreen with the best equipment around in its day (3D even!). The transfer to the 4:3 format is painful, considering the beauty of the shots that has gone lost. In some scenes, the typical stripes and scratches from worn out celluloid are visible.
The contrast with the sound is enormous. A nice 5.1 track is available.
In short: a great film (5 stars) that received a bad DVD treatment (1 star). So I score a 3 star average.
