Trobairitz - the storyteller: Volume 1
Trobairitz - the storyteller: Volume 1
by Celia Micklefield
Edition: Paperback
Price: £6.50

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fabulous Yarn, 29 Jan. 2015
Once again, Celia Micklefield has regaled us with her powers of description and action leaving the reader totally engrossed in the story - well, several stories which all have their own raison d'Ítre yet compliment each other perfectly. This could easily be two books in one but, as you reach the end of this first book of a trilogy, you realise how effective the format is. If you are an armchair traveller and yearn for the smells and light of the Mediterranean and love being told a story, then this is most definitely the book for you. Panting for the next one. Well done, Ms Micklefield - you've done it again!

5.0 out of 5 stars A WINNER!, 7 Aug. 2014
This review is from: Patterns of Our Lives (Paperback)
This book is sheer joy. From the first page to the last we are kept interested, intrigued, guessing and enchanted. Ms Micklefield knows how to paint characters and bring them to life and keep us wanting to know, and care, what happens to them. Her impeccable research bears fruit in making the story stand out convincingly and her first hand experience of the setting gives a quality of truth to this fictional voyage in time. A read that will delight you and make you feel that, somehow, you have been there yourself.

The True Legend Of The Eiffel Tower [DVD]
The True Legend Of The Eiffel Tower [DVD]
Dvd ~ Simon Brook
Price: £5.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Brillliant, simply brilliant!, 17 Jun. 2014
This is a wonderful documentary/film. If you haven't been up the tower you will want to go at any price when you've seen the DVD and if you have been then you'll appreciate it even more. Beautiful photogrpahy, superb original music, convincing actors and perfect direction by Simon Brook. A little "bijou" which is not only educative but enchanting. Never a dull moment. I can highly reccomend it to kids and adults alike.

The Definitive Collection: The Best of D blu-ray was very disappointing. There were none of the exciting effects promised, no real "wow factor". Now, if you want to impress your audience, not only with supurb editing, content and interest but with the REAL glories of a well-made film in 3D save your money and buy David Attenborough's "The Kingdom of Plants". Enchanting, entertaining, educative and plain, old-fashioned FUN in truly stunning 3D. Kingdom of Plants in 3D (Blu-ray 3D)

Words cannot describe this wonderful film - so lovingly made and so marvellous for the morale! It is, quite simply, an ode to passion and daring, which has been exquisitely executed with enthusiasm and professional know-how. I defy ANYONE to be disappointed in purchasing this masterpiece of film making; it is a celebration of love, happiness and life itself. Thank you Mr. Bruno Wollheim, you are a genius!

5.0 out of 5 stars Puccini's remedy for all ills, 25 Jun. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
From beginning to end this "bijou" from Puccini is just pure, lyrical delight. Originally commissioned as an operetta it combines luscious tunes backed up by Puccini's solid operatic mastery. Written with three different endings the first two acts of this three act opera leave one feeling in love with love and beauty just for the sake of it. The glorious soaring notes sung by Angela Gheorghiu and Roberto Alagna blend together in such perfection that the listener is transported into a world that could only exist in the musical imagination of a genius. This production from the Met only adds to the perfection of this piece - an emotional tonic worth every penny and to be consumed without moderation!

This review is from: Wild Thyme in Ibiza (Paperback)
This book is like an exquisite box of chocolates with the one difference being that ALL the centers are delicious. If you've lived in the Mediterranean during the 60's it will open a floodgate of memories when money didn't count and hearts were big and generous; if you haven't had that privilege then you'll just have to believe it because it WAS like that. Mr. Andersen has painted a masterpiece here using just the right colours and tones to a point that you can actually smell the wild thyme. He can make you laugh and cry but most of all he makes you feel good. Amongst other fabulous anecdotes his description of a voyage across Spain with his lovely horse is enough for another book and I personally can't wait for a second Stewart Andersen to arrive on the shelves. If you want to double your pleasure this Summer - take it on holiday with you - it's pure sunshine!
