1.0 out of 5 stars Scam, 14 Oct 2014
Amazon do themselves no favours allowing this sort of stuff on their site. 3 pages and £123 ?? Never bought it but clearly a scam.

Difficult to say anything new here. I thoroughly enjoyed Daves first book and this one was no exception, easy reading and hard to put down. Wonder if the 'big life changing win' accumulator ever came in for Dave..?!

As with other punting books on here, you won't get rich reading it. It will keep you amused though with the authors expoits at various races.

3.0 out of 5 stars Going is Heavy, 22 May 2013

Personally, I found this book very tough going. There is clearly a wealth of information and the author clearly knows his racing in minute detail but after a few chapters I found myself flicking through the pages just trying to find something vaguely interesting. You can only read so much "then I decided against backing xyz because of reason abc, then I looked at jkh who nad run well at..", anyway you get the picture.
This book will suit some people but you will need a very good understanding of racing to get the most from it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth a read, 22 May 2013

It always amazes me reading other reviews that people expect to be spoonfed some amazing winning system that will turn them into millionaires, it's not going to happen!
What this book is, is a well written account of an 'old school' professional punter. Its easy reading and hard to put down, I like the way he interjects sound betting advise (using a tissue etc) with lurid stories of various escapades around the country.

The Smart Money
The Smart Money
by Michael Konik
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Read, 26 Mar 2008
This review is from: The Smart Money (Paperback)
Anyone who has even the slightest passing interest in gambling should read this book. Michael Konik had the lifestyle most of us would give our right arm for, he was put up in the top Vegas hotels and everything was 'comped'.
His 'work' was to get the bets on at the various bookmakers, he worked for an organisation known as The Brain Trust, they knew how to beat the bookies, therefore the problem for them was not what to bet on but how to get the money on ($25k,$35k,45k...etc). This is where they employed people like Michael, he had to try and pass as a highrolling 'mug punter'.
Easily the best gambling book I've read by far.
