Backyard Wildlife: Diary of Neighbourhood Creatures
by Bikramaditya Guha
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple language, very informative and engrossing, 16 Feb. 2015
It is a very informative book about the urban ecology of eastern India. A good book to start with and return to for budding naturalists. Would make a good gift specially to get kids started in these lines.

This review is from: Soluzioni! (Paperback)
Very simply explained with lots of exercises and translations as well. It is a good supplement to my text book. Not for beginners, use this only if you have been studying Italian for a few months and know the basic rules.

Illustrated Dickens (Usborne Illustrated Classics)
Illustrated Dickens (Usborne Illustrated Classics)
by Charles Dickens
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Good first read of Dickens for kids., 10 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My son doesn't take interest in any book with no illustrations. This book has lots of colourful full page illustrations, very simply written with small chunks of the story abridged. I started him at nine years old on his Dickens' discovery but this book can be useful to an even younger kid who loves to read. Or as a bedtime story for a parent to read out. I would recommend this as a good, simple beginning for anyone wanting to start their kids on Dickens.

Abracadabra Saxophone: The Way to Learn Through Songs and Tunes: Pupil's Book + 2 CDs
by Jonathan Rutland
Edition: Paperback
Price: £10.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple tunes well organised for beginners, 10 Nov. 2014
It was a used but clean copy, no highlights or markings. Simple tunes that my boy of nine could pick up with some help from his music teacher. The accompanying CD is good to develop an ear for tunes. He is just beginning to learn the sax and by his third lesson could play tunes from the book, am impressed! The lessons are arranged in a graded order, easy and simple ones first. Very effective and motivating tune book for beginners just starting to learn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful quick reference of both terrains and towns, 10 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It is BIG as it promises. Came very well packaged from the vendor, undamaged in transit. Gives me a broad overview and relate location of towns and big cities, also a relative idea of the distances between them. Plus, a good idea about what the land terrain of those regions are like. I was looking for this kind of a mixed information of both land form and settlements, so no regrets! It occupies pride of place in my study, love it for quick reference checks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breezy read, personal travelogue cum reflective writing, 10 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As an early work on England's literary tourism, gives a good insight. Specially the writer being a turn of the century American professor of English, it gives a kind of pilgrimage feel and an outsider looking in kind of view (which I can relate to.) A breezy read, don't expect in-depth research, but more of a personal travelogue and reflective writing. A good read for English literature lovers who want to undertake similar visits.

Jute and Empire: The Calcutta Jute Wallahs and the Landscapes of Empire (Studies in Imperialism)
by Gordon T. Stewart
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Very informative, well researched, good reference book., 10 Nov. 2014
I had read the book in my Uni library, but wanted my own copy. Very easy writing but substantial research done for anyone who is interested in unbiased reference in this field. Any lay reader interested in colonial economics, industry and dynamics would also enjoy it. I must visit Dundee now!
