3.0 out of 5 stars Ok..., 27 Sept. 2014

Returned the first one I got since one of the 8 buttons did not work.
Like most of this kind of devices, it is not of the highest quality.
Does the job though, and is quite easy to program as well.

Greatly enjoyed that book: good plot and good characters.
I liked The Game World Trilogy and was looking forward to read a new book from Samit Basu.
I have not been disappointed the least! A sequel to this book called "Resistance" should come soon, I can't wait for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars At least as good as her first!, 22 May 2012

This review is from: The Invisible Ones (Hardcover)
Stef Penney's second novel is at least as good as her first one: writing, style, atmosphere, storyline, etc...
A masterpiece. She confirmed she is one of the most talented authors of her generation.

If you liked "The tenderness of the Wolves" because of its writing qualities, then you will certainly enjoy this one. However, if the main reason you liked the first was the setting: a story in Canada with snow, then you could be disappointed! This is not a follow up. It is a complete different book with a complete different setting: gypsies in UK nowadays. It is less soothing and easy somehow. However, you will recognise all the elements of her writing from the first sentence up to the last of the book.

I cannot wait for a third one... to be transported in yet another universe... I guess I will have to wait for a few years before her next jewel...
