5.0 out of 5 stars So Far So Good...an understatement!, 8 Aug 2008
I would like to start off by pointing out Amazon's own review of this album and the lack of understanding for the song "summer of '69", it has been recently well documented what that song's really referring to.

Moving on, this album is perhaps one of the greatest albums ever! It's a shame it doesn't have a couple of live tracks since Adams is such a wonderful live performer, but nevermind that, here is the best of his in-studio tracks.

The shotgun snare drum hit at the start of Summer of '69 throws you right in with his now most recognisable song ever. That gets you bouncing and singing straight away to the feel-good hit before slowing down for the early "straight from the heart". It's great to see only 3 songs were selected from his best-selling "Waking up the Neighbours" album from 1991 and the influence was on his previous music, mostly that of 1984s "Reckless".

The original song "Please forgive me" is the perfect way to finish the album, the new song more than matches up to the gigantic hit single "(Everything I do) I Do It For You" and leaves the gateway open with Bryan sounding better than ever and this album would be followed up by the brilliant "18 'til I Die".

I recommend either this or the recently released "Anthology" as the first Bryan Adams album you buy, followed by "18 til i die" and "reckless" if you like what you hear, which I'm sure you will. 5 Stars!

The whole point about Genesis in the early years was that it wasn't about the singles, it was about the albums as a whole. Many of which followed a theme or carried a story. Genesis didn't really release a whole lot of singles that were meant to become chart-topping smash hits, but the albums were. That's why this album holds songs which were not released as singles. For the real Genesis experience, they were always best live, especially in the 80s and 90s. Hopefully we will see a live dvd/cd released following their final tour, from the new Wembley if we're lucky, would be fitting to go beside the already released 1986 wembley dvd (highly recommended). This compilation is better than the original turn it on again release as it does include more of the early work and also has a lot more tracks on it in general.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Stopping Them Now, 29 Nov 2006
This review is from: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
You simply can't beat Queen at their best, and here is the best from 1973, when they began, up to 1981. This album was recently revealed as the best selling album in UK history, with over 5 million sales. This and the fact this album keeps finding it's way into the top 100 each year obviously tells you that it's something special. You only need to look at the track list to realise just how many tracks you will now and also love. Fantastic. This will never stop selling and dam right it shouldn't, one half of the best band ever's material, also get yourself Greatest Hits 2, the sixth best selling UK album of all time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bryan still at his best, 19 Nov 2006
Although some of the filming of this dvd is questionable, the sound, performance and audience participation are fantastic and present a great concert and performance. Perhaps this should have been brought out as a DVD/CD as the sound is so great that it would have made the perfect concert to listen to since it is (soundwise) better than 'Live! Live! Live!' and the Live in Japan CD/DVD. Now backed with the full five-piece band, rather than the three peice, Bryan Adams' concerts are equal to those larger concerts of Wembley Stadium (not available on CD or DVD) that took place back in the mid-nineties when he was huge. Definately worth buying.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fair Album, but lacks real Jovi, 9 Jun 2006
This review is from: Bounce (Audio CD)
This album includes a number of great songs, including the great rocker 'Everyday', but it does have a few disappointments. The September 11th theme is thankfully combined with Bon Jovi's rock element on the track 'undivided' which is an awesome song. However the ballads on this album fail to live up to the greats such as 'Bed of Roses' and 'I'll be there for you'.

It is definately worth buying, but not the best. Also, the Crush album was no disappointment and included some great tunes such as 'It's My Life','Say It Isn't So' and 'One Wild Night'. Crush or Cross Road would be a more appropriate starting point for newcomers to the band's archive.

Well what can I say?! I am a fan of both paul rodgers' work and a major Queen fan. I don't need this cd, I was there, but Q+PR rocked! It's not often at a gig you get mexican waves before ANY sign of life upon the stage. A sold out sheffield Arena were on their feet through all the Queen hits from we will rock you to bohemian rhapsody (which is very cleverly done) to Paul's hits such as 'all right now' and 'can't get enough'. It was great to see the crowd singing along to Rodger's songs too, an obvious acceptance by the Queen fans. Anybody who supports great live performance and great music will absolutely love this. It's Awesome! The show really MUST go on.
