Ergotron Lx Dual Stacking Arm - Mounting Kit
Ergotron Lx Dual Stacking Arm - Mounting Kit

5.0 out of 5 stars Video Review with Apple Monitors!, 14 Dec 2011
Hello everybody thinking of purchasing this Ergotron LX - and in particular, for a large monitor (such as Apple's 27" LED)... I've done a review on YouTube (of the 'Dual Stacking Arm') showing just how good these are; and that they most certainly CAN support the weight of Apple's beast - even though it's above the maximum weight advised by Ergotron! Please take a look at my youtube review by searching for: Apple LED and LX Dual Stacking Arm

5.0 out of 5 stars USB Charging Whilst Off!!!!, 25 April 2011
To clarify things, from a 'typical' Apple user's point of view... That's a good point, Mr M C from Manchester, and one that made me go; 'Oooh!' as I was about to click on the Add to Basket button and buy one of these for my Magic Mouse (that I too get fed up of changing batteries every 3 to 4 weeks (even high capacity Ni-MH))... What's the point in having a cool charging system that only works whilst the Mac is switched on - and therefore in use????

But within a second it clicked!

Just in case, for those reading Mr M C's review who may be put off purchasing this device who haven't clicked yet... In my experience of using Macs (since pre the award winning B&W G3), most of us don't actually 'turn off' our machines at the end of the night (or whatever), but actually put our beloved Apple's into 'Sleep' mode! In sleep mode the USB is still active! (At least it is on my MacPro, and has been on older towers I still possess.) In fact, the only people I know that use Macs and turn them off, are users that have migrated from Windows and still think that's what they must do!

Which means... One should be able to click on the Apple/Sleep; drop the Magic Mouse (gently) onto it's new charging base whilst the OS is closing down; and let the Mac go to sleep whilst charging!!!!

Hope this helps, darth. x

4.0 out of 5 stars Using the Laptop with those 'tags' hooked on..., 5 Mar 2008
I actually have the 17"W case for my MacBookPro. Saw these reviews and just had to add... Hooking those elastic straps over a closed laptop makes no sense that I can see. Try it. Unzip the case and the bottom just falls away, so I doubt that's what they are for. If they were intended for that, they'd be on the bottom portion!

On the other hand, when the laptop's open they do tend to indicate you should use them! When I'm using the machine in public - on a train - I do hook them on. 1 to give a bit more privacy. 2 so that the open case doesn't get in the way of the opposing passenger's half of the table!

Although I have so say, having them hooked over does block the top corners of the screen, which is a bit annoying. And as for the case, I do love it but for one thing, and the reason I've given 4 stars... If you put it somewhere where something hard presses into it for any time, the mark/indentation stays pressed into the case forever!! Not quite what I thought was meant by 'memory foam' :-)

As for the laptop overheating due to the case now blocking the vents... Here's the smug bit! My Apple has vents that breath onto the inside of the hinge, so the warm air comes out between the keyboard and the screen! You get what you pay for... My ex drives a Vauxhall, my girlfriend drives a more expensive, and infinitely better built VW. I know which I prefer to drive - an Apple not a PC!

Happy shopping! darth x
