Bartok Viola Concerto, 13 Oct. 2010
If you don't know this Viola Concerto, then you can't really get better than this. I believe that Bartok wrote this work for William Primrose who plays it here. The reason why this piece has been so neglected might stem from the fact that the composer didn't finish the work and some people can be snotty about that. I don't agree and I'm sure in a field where the repertoire for this instrument is limited a bigger audience is deserved.
The other works on this disc are well done, particularly the
de Falla, and show how good a conductor Klemperer was.
