1.0 out of 5 stars Utterly abysmal, 13 Dec 2011
Without doubt the biggest load of rubbish I have ever seen. There goes 2 hours of my life down the toilet. I don't even know where to start this film is just so bad. I cannot believe this won an oscar. A frigid, repressed, neurotic, self harming dancer with an overbearing mother gets sexually abused by her boss, has lesbian fantasies about her understudy, gets the part of her dreams (the black swan) fantasises about murdering her understudy, and initially messes up her big moment, then woo - hoo she finally delivers. There you go that's about it. Even the dance scenes are so underwhelming and amateurishly choreographed it beggars belief, and the director utilises every horror movie hackneyed visual cliche in the book. Tripe from start to finish.Do yourself a favour and watch the tellytubbies instead - it has more substance than this garbage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slow burner.., 10 Dec 2011
This review is from: Velociraptor! (Audio CD)
Another fantastic album from the new kings of rock. Just like their last album 'West Ryder..' this one slowly grows on you then attacks you with venom. At first I was underwhelmed, but after several plays the songs are just irresistible. Some of the melodies and rhythms sound reminiscent without quite being able to out my finger on it, but hey, so what, there is very little left that is completely original in rock! To me Kasabian are like a sort of mash up of Oasis, Primal Scream, Stone Roses, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, all sprinkled with a soupcon of Kraftwerk. Man, what's not to like?!
