Finally Bruce is back. After the last two dire outings Bruce has created an album of important songs harking back to his folk/gospel/blues heritage with excellent production values ( let's hope he's finally lost Brendan O'Briens phone number). I was beginning to give up on Bruce, but with this, he's made me a believer again.

James Carr suffered from mental illness all his life, but he left a legacy of music which, in this reviewers opinion, is unmatched in the soul canon. If you think you might like soul music you have to buy this album. It just doesn't get any better than this.

If the only track on this album was Everybody Knows (The River Song) it would still be worth twice the price. This is soul at its very best. You may not have heard of O.V Wright, but you have heard of Otis Redding and Wilson Picket and believe me this guy is every bit as good. Buy it, and as another reviewer said, spread the word.

Finally, finally, finally, Tom Jones has recorded the album his voice was born for. Having heard most of the tracks on the album, this ranks alongside Cash's American albums and Neil Diamond's last two albums. Rick Rubin was the instigator of those brilliant works and it appears as if Ethan Johns has pulled off the same trick with Tom Jones. It's about time.
