1.0 out of 5 stars Bought as a gift, 17 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought for a friend who's an avid asian movie collector so I have no idea what this is like as a film,. I can say the delivery was timely and the product was in full working order with no issues. I am told it is a rare movie and difficult to find elsewhere which says a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Idiotproof solution, 27 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you're a coder looking to get into javascript and using jquery this pretty much has it all. It starts off basic and covers the fundamentals well but is all about implementation. This is a book you can use, not just read and then read again because the first pass didn't sink in. It's not even worth thinking about. Buy it.

Bought for a friend as a bit of a joke, it actually works surprisingly well. Good if you are out and about and need to capture something on the fly but don't expect miracles.

3.0 out of 5 stars Failed experiment, 2 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was actually buying this for a friend but I'm the 'tech savvy' one so did my homework and decided this was the solution. The product itself worked fine, exactly as expected. Simple to set up, easy to use and relatively inexpensive. Unfortunately the drama of actually getting it was another story.

Initially I was sent the wrong product, intended for another customer and entirely unrelated. I then sent this back after a confusing exchange of emails. The next proposed delivery date was missed completely leading to a further exchange of emails. It finally arrived significantly after the 3rd proposed delivery date, almost at the point of another flurry of emails. I realise online purchases are not always perfect but this entire drama took several weeks and was just not acceptable.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's just a cable, but when it's the right cable....., 2 Mar 2013

The challenge - getting a mismatched PC tower and monitor to work together. The solution - this cable. I knew it was possible but this was a bargain. Order and delivery was fuss free and on time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, suspect build quality, 2 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
At a basic level this does exactly what it says on the tin. Plugged it into my 3rd gen shuffle and that was it. All controls work, job done. The only issue I've got with it is the cabling. This is fairly rigid stuff which when you first receive it seems like a positive. However, in use, the device moves a lot of course. This causes the cabling to flex at the joint between the main body of the device and the cable. There is nothing you can do about this and it will eventually loosen, causing the cable end itself to flex.

3 weeks in this has not had any impact but if it is going to fail that's where it will go. Its certainly not encouraging but to be fair its not an expensive item, unlike a new ipod which I thought I was going to have to buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars A smart choice for the money, 2 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I've listened to these every day when out and about and can find no major problems with them. They are fairly bass-heavy when first heard but that doesn't stop them being clear and sharp at the top end. Listening to detailed music such as classical is just as rewarding as some insane Drum 'n' Bass. The level of background noise exclusion was surprising, meaning that it is just you and the music, not traffic noise and half heard lyrics.

Two things I would be aware of before you sign up. Firstly, they are a tight fit. The plastic headband really does clamp them in place but they remain comfortable even after a couple of hours listening. Some people don't like the 'bolted on' feel and if so they are not for you.

Second thing, the 'ratchet' mechanism for adjustment of the headband is fairly sturdy BUT if you try and adjust them under tension i.e whilst wearing them it is likely to lock up. This can involve a bit of to-ing and fro-ing to get the fit right but its a small price to pay compared to replacing the 3 bits you'll likely end up with if you don't.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Satisfied, 18 Dec 2009
Been looking for a laptop for a while when I stumbled on this one. Good reviews in mags was a good start. I was sceptical about the 'custom GPU' but having used it for a few months I have yet to find something it cannot do well. For example:

World of Warcraft over a network - no problem

3d application - No problem.

Video edit - didn't even break a sweat

3 comprehensive security scans at once on seperate apps - routine job

12 browsing tabs open at once - big deal

SecondLife - used extensively with no issues. Better than my desktop machine

Best features:

The same spec on a 'heavyweight' brand e.g SONY would cost you a grand, no problem.

Power, and lots of it

Good webcam/mic for skype users

Secure onboard storage feature - essentially an 'invisible' drive partition

Problems:

The keyboard is a little 'plasticy' but is easy to use

The fingerprint reader can be a little unreliable but is a useful feature overall

It runs Vista so expect a lot of useless features/apps. These are easy to get rid of/deal with for 'power users' that want a stripped down workhorse.
