5.0 out of 5 stars Shockingly Good, 8 April 2006
This Cd is so damn rocking that it makes it tough to listen to the studio recordings afterwards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brand New-this is NOT pop punk!!, 27 Mar 2003
This review is from: Your Favourite Weapon (Audio CD)
Ive been listening to Brand New for a couple of months now and a band this good cant stay unnoticed for much longer. Supporting Finch this spring in the UK its only a matter of time before their name starts appearing in tip-ex on scruffy moshers bags and teenage girl's homework diaries all over Britain. Which is a shame because they are above that. Their sound is a skillfull blend of acts like Taking Back Sunday, Jimmy Eat World and the Get Up Kids with a hint of punk thrown in for fun. When they say in Failure by design "we don't believe in filler baby" they aren't lying. The songs are consistently excellent however my personal favourites are Mix Tape, Magazines, Soco Ameretto Lime and (undoubtedly sure to be their first single) Jude Law and a Semester Abroad. Buy this album now and enjoy them before they slowly lose their credibility in the face of mass teen popularity. They also have a Split CD with Safety in Numbers (which is extremely hard to obtain due to the limited amount produced) and a DVD on Triple Crown (again limited).I proudly own both.Look out for the new album this june...

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST EMO/ROCK ALBUM OF 2002!!!!!!!!!!, 5 Jan 2003
This review is from: Tell All Your Friends (Audio CD)
As I sit hear writing this review their are only 4 already submitted. By the end of this year there is bound to be 100+
Taking Back Sunday are going to be massive. Why? Because they bring together the finest elements of todays finest rock bands to produce their own unmistakable sound. The loud melodic guitars of Thursday, the emotion of Dashboard Confessional, the catchyness of Hundred Reasons and their own clever use of dual vocals. Ive had the album since July but I only felt compelled to write a review after listening to the album again yesterday. Im rubbish at writing reviews so you'll just have to take my word for it and check them out yourself. If you want a flavour of their music try downloading Cute without the E and Timberwolves at New Jersey. If you are a fan of Thursday, Brand New, Hundred Reasons, Jimmy Eat World or Finch you most certainly wont be disappointed. Its just a shame their going to have their name disgraced by mini moshers and irritating kids in the forthcoming months.

Can you imagine a mellower version of taking back sunday?because this is what Northstar could be called.very laid back, chilled out riffs-a great album to have on in the background whilst you work. Would recommend to any fans of Taking back sunday, brand new and/or thursday
