5.0 out of 5 stars In good books, 13 Sep 2013

I bought this for my wife to replace her burnt out hair dryer. It's small, light and powerful and ideal for a suitcase to keep below the dreaded 20 kilos.

I use this to store music on to play background music, I bought a second one so as I could put all my oldies on one reader and all the new stuff on the other. I will get round to storing pictures and books eventually. You need to use headphones as the internal speaker is a little ropey. Also it is not touch screen but easy to navigate via the buttons.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not about the WAGS, 13 Sep 2013

This book does not hold any punches, it tells it like it is. If you want to know about Wayne's greatest goal or favourite match this is not the book for you. If you would like to read about the nastier side of the game, the agents that run the show for great reward and in most cases very little effort this is a must read. It does not show Wayne in a bad light, but as a young kid who came good early, made some stupid mistakes but has never forgotten his roots.

I saw Argent at the old Liverpool Stadium where the stage was the boxing ring, I had the LP as they were promoting it. Great gig with support from Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come. This re-issue is everything it should be with a great booklet and bonus track "Closer To Heaven".

5.0 out of 5 stars A refreshing compilation of Mungo Jerry material, 22 Oct 2012
A compilation of Mungo Jerry songs dating back to the original demo recording of Peace in the Country from the debut album in 1970. It takes in various styles of the song writing of Ray Dorset aka Mungo Jerry from the commercial non UK hits The Drum Song, Hello Nadine and Forgotten Land. To the critically acclaimed hard rockin' Get Down On Your Baby and the recent We Don't Like the Army from the latest Mungo Jerry Blues Band CD When She Comes, She Runs All Over Me.

The other songs are What's Her Name What's Her Number, Gone Gone Gone, Rollin' and Strollin', No More Woman Blues, Heartbreak Avenue, Gone To Malaya, Little Miss Hipshake, She Had To Go, Why Did You Lie To Me, All I Wanna Do, Hello It's You Again and Make Me Happy taking in material from the Polydor and Satellite days plus the acclaimed BBC Snakebite album and more.

It covers some of Ray Dorset's commercial song writing as well as a few blues based songs and starts and finishes with the opening and reprise version of the title track which got regular night time radio play at the time of release in 1975 when promoting the Impala Saga LP.

5.0 out of 5 stars Boogie All The Way with Mungo Jerry, 22 Oct 2012
This review is from: Old Shoes New Jeans (Audio CD)
Back in 1970 the biggest selling single of the year was In The Summertime from a jug, skiffle, rock'n' blues band Mungo Jerry. Ray Dorset aka Mungo Jerry is still travelling the world to this day playing all the hits and more from his songbook. This CD was recorded in 1997 in his first venture of a blues only recording, it is the pre-curser to the successful Adults Only and When She Comes, She Runs All Over Me releases from the now titled Mungo Jerry Blues Band. Eleven songs appeared on the CD - six for the first time; P.A.R.T.Y.O., Beautiful Widow, Birthday Blues, New Pair of Jeans, Unloved Unwanted, I've Got the Blues and four re-workings of previous Mungo Jerry recordings Bottle of Beer, One More Night Without You, Boogie All the Way and Wiggle and a Waggle. Plus the special bonus track All That a Woman Should Be from the 1977 Mungo Jerry LP Lovin' in the Alleys.

Ray Dorset's gravel blues based vocals alongside some of his tasteful and quirky guitar grab your attention straight away, it's not his most commercial hit based output, but none of the songs would be out of place on a late night blues radio show. This is not `down trodden and fall in the gutter type blues', but blues with a beat that has you singing and tapping along and making you revisit the CD on more than one occasion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure blues at It's best, 22 Oct 2012
This review is from: A Case for the Blues (Audio CD)
Recorded in 1983 Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac, Ray Dorset aka Mungo Jerry and Atomic Rooster's Vincent Crane gathered in Ray Dorset's garden studio over a period of six weeks to rehearse, jam and record this excellent set of blues standards and self written material. Helped by Greg Terry-Short on drums and Jeff Whittaker percussion - Green's pure guitar, Dorset's gruff vocals and Crane's tasteful keyboards blended in perfect style.

It was a low key affair with all agreeing that they did not want a major record label involved so promotion was kept to a minimum leaving all to go their separate ways and not be hounded by exec's in hot seats demanding they travel at a moment's notice.

This CD comes with an excellent informative booklet and for avid collectors the good news is enough jam material has been unearthed to make a double CD set sometime in the future

5.0 out of 5 stars Roy Wood a true wizzard, 2 Oct 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A biography needs to be well written and researched and this one certainly ticks all the boxes. It starts at Roy's early Brum beat days and ends in the present, no stone is left unturned and the book is a wealth of information. It is a warts an' all account of the musical genius that is Roy Wood and all that he has been involved with. It has you making notes to remind you play an old favourite again and to check out an item missing from your collection. The way the author describes the compilations is heartwarming and it will save you time and money in only searching for the releases that add to your collection rather than repeating, something that Roy Wood himself states in the text that drives him up the wall when a release is poorly put together. I read this book on holiday in a couple of days around the pool with a drink in one hand and my Kindle in the other, the only thing that was missing was my record collection, but then again you can't have everything.

If all you want is a cover for a CD and are not after a super thick cover, this is an ideal budget range. I would order again from this company
