WWE - Tombstone - The History Of The Undertaker [DVD]
WWE - Tombstone - The History Of The Undertaker [DVD]
Dvd ~ Wwe Tombstone

5.0 out of 5 stars A Worthy Tribute to WWE's True Legend, 20 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Well packaged and set out, this collection covers all the biggest and most iconic matches and storylines with the most worthy opponents that solidified The Undertaker as perhaps WWE's definitive wrestler. It is all covered (up to the date it was compiled), from The Phenom with Paul Bearer era to the American Badass era and beyond; the casket and buried alive matches, rivalry with Kane - including the Inferno Match, the infamous Hell In A Cell match with Mankind, Hell In A Cell with Shaun Michaels; matches with Stone Cold, Triple H, Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle and Hulk Hogan.
It would've been good to get some input from The Dead Man himself with some thoughts on his matches and a bit of a documentary into his career and personal life maybe, but the compilation of full matches and run down of the storyline/rivalry leading to the matches are faultless. Absolute value for money, no one will be disappointed with this collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Corpse Continue the Standard of Excellence!, 12 Mar. 2012
This review is from: Torture (Audio CD)
How twenty plus years into their career they only proceed to get MORE brutal is unbelievable. The inventiveness goes up a notch on this album (though don't expect to hear an acoustic track!) and the fact that Pat O'Brien and Rob Barrett contribute as much to this album as Alex Webster gives the album a more diverse feel. Possibly their most consistent album yet.

Demented Aggression is as good a track as any to kick off an album and we're thrown right into brutality and the ears are assaulted relentless til the end track! As Deep As the Knife Will Go is an instant classic and will no doubt be a setlist regular, possibly the best on the album. Scourge of Iron fools you with a thrash intro but is the obligatory slow showstopper, in keeping with Death Walking Terror/Evisceration Plague of the last two albums and possibly Pat's best solo maybe? However it probably comes too early on in the album.

There are a few nods to old school Corpse on this offering, Crucifier Avenged stood out as sounding similar to Butchered At Birth's Meat Hook Sodomy. Alex Webster fanatics like me will be pleased to hear the bass break on The Strangulation Chair is UNREAL and the bass outro to the relentlessly fast Rabid is awesome! Another standout moment is the hook to Followed Home then Killed (possibly second best track) is tripped out, unlike anything I've heard from Corpse yet.

No high screams from George here but the deep vocals are on form and packs the usual standard of relentless and unbelievable speed and brutality. The sheer musicianship on offer here is astounding, every band member gels together perfectly to make one of the most devastating collective band of musicians in metal today. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars SMITH DOES IT AGAIN!!!, 30 Sept. 2007
This review is from: Chasing Amy [DVD] [1997] (DVD)
Smith's most personal and emotional film will have you gripped, choked, laughing hysterically and grinning from ear to ear.

More of a romantic comedy than an indie pop culture flick, but a cheesy Hugh Grant flick it is NOT; this is how such films SHOULD be - realistic. No hearts, flowers and unbelievable happy endings; rather crazy, unpredictable and relentlessly entertaining.

A great turn from Ben Affleck and Joey Lauren Adams who act their asses off. A teriffic turn from Jason Lee that never fails to have me in hysterics no matter how many times I see it. And, yes, Jay and Silent Bob appear too - surprisingly in a pivotal scene.

The scene where Banky and Alyssa discuss their sexual inujries is sure to have you in stitches and THAT scene in the car/rain is sure to have even the toughest of people with a lump in their throat.

A MUST-HAVE for all Smith fans.

Oh, and a great analysis of the racist undertones in the Star Wars saga - genius, just genius.

4.0 out of 5 stars Underrated Follow-up to Clerks and Predecessor to Chasing Amy, 30 Sept. 2007
This review is from: Mallrats [DVD] (DVD)
After Smith's widely acclaimed debut Clerks, this was destined to be slated by critics, but for those who can accept films for what they are and for those who are die-hard Kevin Smith fans, you will enjoy this light-hearted flick with more loveable characters and more side-splitting dialogue.

Jason Lee gives a hilarious lead turn and a scene-stealing performance by Michael Rooker (whom I was surprised to find so funny) along with more hilarious moments with the fantastic Jay and Silent Bob. This is very trashy, but then all of Smith's movies are, but they don't try to be anything they're not, they just are what they are; ingeniously simple and highly enjoyable.

The stinkpalm scene is almost as funny as the Silence Of The Mewes scene in Clerks II! Worth buying just for that scene!

This really flopped at the cinema and was hated by critics, but is quickly being rediscovered on DVD, worth buying if you can find it under £10.

5.0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING SEQUEL!!!, 30 Sept. 2007
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Clerks II [DVD] [2006] (DVD)
Clerks 2 is undoubtedly one of the best follow-ups since Aliens or Terminator 2.

More of everything fans loved about the first film with more laughs. There are no attempts to make it more mainstream or Hollywood approved; just more of the characters we know and love with more quotable dialogue and hernia-inducing laughs and gags with cameos from Smith favourites Jason Lee and Ben Affleck, plus two new additions to the View Askewniverse in the form of Rosario Dawson and Trevor Fehrman.

Featuring some fantastic songs by Alanis Morissette and Soul Asylum, a Silence Of The Lambs gag from Jason Mewes that is sure to have you changing your pants and by far the funniest Lord Of The Rings analysis I've ever seen, Kevin Smith fans and those who are new to Smith's Askewniverse will not be disappointed, this is a good starting point for new fans to dive deeper into the old classics.

5.0 out of 5 stars ESSENTIAL, NO QUESTION, 30 Sept. 2007
Clerks is one of those films much like The Lost Boys and Pulp Fiction; a celebration of pop culture and cult classic that paved the way for many imitations.

The first movie to feature the infmaous Jay and Silent Bob has been widely acclaimed as an indie cult classic; often cited as one of those movies you HAVE to see before you die.

You won't see a film quite like it, ingenius in it's simplicity; it depicts two slackers wasting their potential in a convenience store and putting the world to rights. Loveable characters Randall and Dante will live forever in your mind as two of the most realistic and hilarous characters put to film, everyone can relate to them and everyone will know somebody just like them.

The first film to bless us with the fantastic Jason Mewes who is easily one of the biggest show-stealer since Alan Rickman in Die Hard and Robin Hood will have you quoting his every line!

Pop culture enthusiasts and lovers of indie flicks NEED to have this in their collection, you will not be disappointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars NOWHERE NEAR AS GOOD AS THE DEBUT BUT STILL A SOLID ALBUM, 22 Jun. 2007
This review is from: Out of Exile (Audio CD)
I ABSOLUTELY WORHSIPPED THE FIRST ALBUM I LOVE EVERY TRACK AND WHEN THIS ALBUM WAS RELEASED I HAVE TO SAY I DIDN'T LIKE IT AT ALL, MAINLY BECAUSE IT SOUNDS SO DIFFERENT TO THE DEBUT; THEY SEEM TO HAVE LOST ANY SIMILARITIES TO PAST BANDS RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE AND SOUNDGARDEN THAT THEY HAD ON THE FIRST ALBUM AND REALLY BECOME THEIR OWN BAND HERE, BUT LIKE SOUNDGARDEN'S "BADMOTORFINGER" AND RAGE'S "EVIL EMPIRE" IT'S A GROWER.

"OUT OF EXILE" EXPLORES CORNELL'S VOCAL RANGES WITH SOFTER TEMPLE OF THE DOG-LIKE MELODY AND THEN A HEAVY GROWL FOR THE CHORUS, WITH A SOLID ZEPPELIN-LIKE RIFF AND AS ALWAYS AMAZING BASS THAT COULD GIVE SABBATH'S GEEZER BUTLER A RUN FOR HIS MONEY. GREAT STRUCTURE, GOOD WORDS AND GREAT VOCALS

"BE YOURSELF" SOFTER IN A WAY VERY DIFFERENT TO PREVIOUS SOFTER SONGS AUDIOSLAVE HAVE PERFORMED, BUT WORKS MAGNIFICENTLY, TREMENDOUS RIFF AND VOCALS AND LYRICS THAT GRAB YOU BY THE THROAT, WITH AN ENTRANCING SOLO. GREAT SONG, ANTHEM-LIKE, IF A LITTLE COMMERCIAL FOR MY LIKING

"HEAVEN'S DEAD", VERY SIMPLISTIC RIFF FROM MORELLO BUT WITH A LOT OF FEELING, ENCHANTING VOCALS BY CHRIS CORNELL, I FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG BEFORE ANY OTHER ON THE ALBUM, REMINDS ME OF "I AM THE HIGHWAY" FROM THE DEBUT. (GREAT SOLO TOO, VERY SIMPLE BLUESY LIKE "GETAWAY CAR", THESE ARE MY FAVOURITE MORELLO SOLOS)

"#1 ZERO" ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE ON THE ALBUM, AMAZING BASS, SOLID DRUMMING AND GREAT GUITARRING FROM MORELLO, DEFINITELY THE MOST MUSICALLY STRUCTURED ONE HERE WITH SOME OF CORNELL'S BESR LYRICS IN MY OPINION, AND HIS VOICE IS NOTHING SHORT OF FANTASTIC, ABSOLUTELY GRIPPING, DEFINITELY ON MY TOP FAVOURITE SONGS EVER LIST

THOSE ARE MY FAVOURITE SONGS, TRACKS LIKE "THE WORM" AND "DROWN ME SLOWLY" ARE PRETTY GOOD SONGS MUCH THE SAME AS "YOUR TIME HAS COME" AND "YESTERDAY TO TOMORROW" I'D RECOMMEND THIS TO ANY MUSIC FAN BECAUSE THERE IS SUCH A RANGE AND THEY REALLY SHOOK OFF THEIR PAST BANDS WITH THIS ALBUM.

SOLID DRUMMING, GREAT GUITAR RIFFS AND SOLOS, AMAZING BASS AS EVER AND BREATH-TAKING VOCALS AND RANGE FROM START TO FINISH.

DEFINITELY WORTH BUYING. SEE THE FIRST ALBUM FOR AN ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE THOUGH.

5.0 out of 5 stars ESSENTIAL, 20 Jun. 2007
This review is from: Temple Of The Dog (Audio CD)
ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL LISTENING FOR ANY SELF-RESPECTING GRUNGE ENTHUSIAST AND FOR ANY CHRIS CORNELL FANS. BREATH-TAKING VOCALS AND HARD-HITTING LYRICS WITH HAUNTING AND MOVING MUSICAL ARRANGEMENTS.

"SAY HELLO 2 HEAVEN" IS HAUNTINGLY BRILLIANT, AN IMPRESSIVE OPENER WITH A LOT OF PASSION AND FEELING (MOTHER LOVE BONE FRONTMAN ANDY WOOD - FOR WHOM THE BAND WAS A TRIBUTE TO - AND CHRIS CORNELL WERE CLOSE FRIENDS, SO THERE'S A LOT OF PASSION IN THE SONGS CHRIS WROTE FOR HIM), LEAVING YOU WITH GOOSEBUMPS

"REACH DOWN" IS PARTICULARLY GLOOMY, GRUNGE FANS WILL BE LICKING THEIR LIPS AS THEY LISTEN TO THE NEVER-ENDING GUITAR SOLOS BACKED UP WITH TRADEMARK BASS AND DRUMMING THAT SHOWS YOU JUST HOW SKILFUL GRUNGE MUSICIANS WERE DESPITE CONSTANT CRITICISM AT THE TIME

"HUNGER STRIKE", SOFT AND RADIO-FRIENDLY BUT STILL JUST AS MOVING, WITH AMAZING VOCALS FROM CHRIS CORNELL AND A SKILFUL TURN FROM EDDIE VEDDER ON GUEST-LEAD VOCALS, GIVING CORNELL A RUN FOR HIS MONEY, YOU WILL BE SINGING THIS FOR HOURS AFTER THE ALBUM HAS ENDED

"PUSHIN' FORWARD BACK", "YOUR SAVIOUR" AND "FOUR WALLED WORLD" ARE GOOD SONGS THAT WILL HAVE ANY SOUNDGARDEN AND PEARL JAM FANS ROCKING

"CALL ME A DOG" IS ANOTHER FINE EXAMPLE OF CHRIS CORNELL'S BEAUTIFUL VOICE AND TOUCHING VOCALS, LEAVES YOU FEELING COLD

"TIMES OF TROUBLE" (HARDCORE PEARL JAM FANS WILL RECOGNISE THE RIFF USED IN THE SONG "FOOTSTEPS" WHICH CAN BE FOUND ON THE "LOST DOGS" RARITIES COMPILATION) HAS MORE SOARING VOCALS AND BLEAK LYRICS THAT HIT YOU SO HARD YOUR HEAD FEELS LIGHT

MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE ON THE ALBUM "ALL NIGHT THING" WHICH REALLY IS CORNELL'S SONG; DEFINITELY WOULD NEVER SOUND RIGHT ON A PEARL JAM ALBUM, WOULDN'T GO WITH SOUNDGARDEN'S MATERIAL AND WOULD BE TOO SOFT FOR AUDIOSLAVE, THIS IS ONE OF HIS FINEST HOURS; HEARTBREAKING WORDS AND VOCALS THAT TAKE YOU TO ANOTHER PLACE

ESSENTIAL AND EXTRAORDINARY. BUY IMMEDIATELY.

4.0 out of 5 stars NO "DOWNWARD SPIRAL" BUT STANDS TALL NEXT TO "WITH TEETH", 20 Jun. 2007
This review is from: Year Zero (Audio CD)
I WILL BE HONEST I AM NOT A FAN OF THE CONCEPT IDEA; I THINK THE LIKES OF MARILYN MANSON CAN PULL IT OFF WELL BECAUSE HIS MUSIC IS ABOUT IMAGE MORE THAN PERSONAL LYRICS; BUT NIN'S TRENT REZNOR USUALLY SPILLS HIS HEART OUT INTO HIS SONGS AND HIS WORDS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVOURITE PART OF HIS SONGS ESPECIALLY WHEN A LOT OF THEM ARE WHISPERED AND DISTORTED IN THE BACKGROUND, SO I WILL SAY THAT I WAS DISAPPOINTED HIS LYRICS WERE NOT GOING TO BE AN INSIGHT INTO HIS PERSONAL HELL AGAIN...BUT THE MUSIC IS ON TOP FORM AS ALWAYS

BEING MORE OF A FAN OF HIS MORE DIFFICULT MUSIC AS HIS DISPLAYED ON THE DOWWARD SPIRAL AND THE FRAGILE, I WAS SURPRISINGLY IMPRESSED WITH THE LAST ALBUM "WITH TEETH" WHICH IS VERY COMMERCIAL MUSICALLY FOR TRENT IN PLACES, BUT THE LYRICS WERE EASILY AS DARK AS THE SPIRAL'S WHICH WORKED TO GREAT EFFECT WHEN THEY BOTH MIXED ON TRACKS LIKE "THE HAND THAT FEEDS", "ALL THE LOVE IN THE WORLD" AND "ONLY". "YEAR ZERO" IS EASILY AS GOOD AS "WITH TEETH" - WHICH BROUGHT TRENT A LOT OF NEW FANS - BUT IS JUST AS DIFFICULT AS HIS EARLY STUFF IN PLACES; WHICH ANY COMMITTED NIN FAN WILL BE GLAD TO HEAR

THERE ARE A FEW OF HIS TRADEMARK INSTRUMENTALS HERE; KICKING OFF WITH ONE FOR STARTERS, AND SOME GREAT CATCHY TUNES LIKE "THE GOOD SOLDIER" AND "THE BEGINNING OF THE END" WHICH BRING BACK MEMORIES OF "HEAD LIKE A HOLE" AND "DOWN IN IT", THIS IS FAR FROM AS HEAVY AS THE LIKES OF SOME OF THE FRAGILE AND DOWNWARD SPIRAL BUT INSTEAD BECOMES MORE HYPNOTIC, SOUNDING MORE LIKE GARY NUMAN MIXED WITH DEPECHE MODE, WHICH I THINK WORKS TO GREAT EFFECT

THERE ARE CERTAINLY SOME TRACKS WHERE YOU STOP AND THINK "NO. JUST NO." BUT I WOULD SAY IT'S A PRETTY GOOD FOLLOW UP TO WITH TEETH AND AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT ALBUM

ANY NIN NEWCOMERS WHO GOT HOOKED FROM WITH TEETH WOULD NOT BE DISAPPOINTED THOUGH I DO RECOMMEND YOU BUY THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL IMMEDIATELY AND THEN PRETTY HATE MACHINE. ANY OLD FANS WOULD BE LESS IMPRESSED BUT WILL ENJOY IT NONETHELESS, JUST DON'T PAY ANY MORE THAN £6

4.0 out of 5 stars OZZY'S BACK ON FORM WITH GREAT GUITARRING BY ZAKK, 31 May 2007
This review is from: Black Rain (Audio CD)
A GREAT COME-BACK FOR OZZY, NOT HIS BEST ALBUM, BUT EASILY HIS BEST SINCE "DOWN TO EARTH", I WAS REALLY IMPRESSED AND I WASN'T EXPECTING THAT MUCH

KICKING OFF WITH "NOT GOING AWAY" WITH IT'S INCREDIBLY HEAVY RIFF AND IRRESISTABLY HYPNOTIC CHORUS YOU WILL BE CHANTING FOR THE REST OF THE DAY, YOU CAN'T HELP BUT FEEL "OZZY'S BACK!" AND IT'S BEEN TOO LONG! SOME OF THE SLOWER ONES I FOUND A LITTLE CRINGE-WORTHY BUT I DARESAY THEY WILL MAKE GOOD SINGLES, BUT THE SONGS "I DON'T WANNA STOP", "BLACK RAIN" "THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR" (OZZY AS POLITICAL COMMENTATOR WHO'D HAVE THOUGHT IT?! BUT GREAT!) "11 SILVER" AND "CIVILIZE THE UNIVERSE" WILL HAVE MOST OZZY FANS ROCKING ALONG

MAYBE SLIGHTLY MORE ACCESSIBLE AND ALMOST POPPY IN PLACES THIS WILL PUT OFF FANS OF HIS BLACK SABBATH ERA BUT OZZY'S PLENTY DARK ENOUGH AND HE HASN'T SOLD OUT HE'S STILL THE SAME OLD OZZY DOING WHAT HE DOES BEST, A DECENT COMEBACK

GOOD LYRICS AND VOCALS (THOUGH TOUCHED UP IN THE STUDIO I THINK, BUT IM NOT COMPLANING HE'S NO CHRIS CORNELL BUT HE STILL SOUNDS GREAT) BACKED UP SUPERBLY BY ZAKK WYLDE'S AMAZING GUITARRING (MORE THAN A FEW SOLO'S HAD THE HAIRS ON MY ARMS STAND ON END) WORTH BUYING!
