1.0 out of 5 stars I feel cheated, 14 Jan 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this book based on my experience with BRILIANT EXCEL 2007 by Steve Johnson. You would think with BRILLIANT in the title you would be looking at a joined up series of similar books - none of it - where BRILLIANT Excel 2007 was colourful, well laid out and easy to follow and provided you with line by line training - this is just A N OTHER Excel book Boring Black and White and the usual boring style of preaching not teaching trading on someone else's success. Given a choice I would have my money back no matter how "reasonable" people think it is. These are just Mr Excel Books re-badged with the BRILLIANT name. They don't even hide the fact [once you have bought them] as the down-loads for some of them are on Mr Excel Site. Honestly if they were that good in the first place why sell them under a pseudonym - shame on you .

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok unless you have the SB900, 4 Mar 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Unfortunately it does not do what it says on the label - the Nikon CLS has a big brother called the SB900 which never gets mentioned in this book, probably because the book is out of date. Thats said what it does contain is still intersting and informative. Perhaps Amazon should show publication dates then you could amke a better judgement on value of thee tech books

3.0 out of 5 stars Whats the race, 16 Jan 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
First off let me say this has the potential to be a really good product - However it just somehow misses the mark. First complaint is the lack of "granularity" in the on screen options. You are offered about 10 main headers so cannot go back easily and focus on sub areas without burning out the F/W and R/W button.
Secondly this guy obviously is a pro and has used the D90 extensivelly so thinks we can all work at his pace whch I am afraid does not allow an amateur time to follow what's happening, let alone replicate it on their own camera. Video cutting is fine for taking out the bits where menus time out etc, but it does not replicate te real world for those following the action.
This product should be shipped with a spare DVD remote controller to replace the one you will wear out trying to keep up with him.
Is it any good technically!!!!!! I have no idea I am brain dead after watching it twice and to be honest not a lot the wiser in any usable way.
I am sure there is good stuff in there, but finding it is difficult

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't this guy understand irony, 19 May 2008
I am sorry but a book that discussing making good judgemnts on minimal information that then goes into page after page of repeating the same tired old examples and gives too much information. As the book says I knew it was right in the first few pages - why would I need the rest of it - now thats ironic
